How to draw a BASKETBALL & HOOP! – [Episode 102]
  • Draw a circle for the head and a rectangle for the body.
  • For the legs, draw two rectangles that bend halfway and two small ovals for the feet.
  • For the arms, draw two slightly curved rectangles upward on the top of the body and curved lines to draw the hand.
  • You can either draw the hands like the player is wearing mittens or add details by drawing the fingers.

  • For the hair, we used curls and curves in the example. But you can draw or design the hair any way you want.
  • Next, draw a face that is facing upward since our basketball player is aiming at the hoop. Then draw filled circles for the eyes, a slight curve for the nose, and a big smile.
  • Lastly, design your players’ clothes/ uniform.
  • Basketball players wear uniforms or jerseys that have a number on them. I’d like to add the number ’20’ on my basketball player, so I drew a big ’20’ at the player’s back. You can put any number that you like for your character.

If you don’t want your basketball player to wear a uniform or jersey, you can use different patterns or designs on the shirt!

    Finalize The Basketball Hoop

Complete the basketball hoop by drawing the last two layers of V shapes pattern right underneath the last layer we drew in the previous.

At this point, you should have a total of 5 layers of the similar pattern forming the entire net.

Bear in mind that the shapes at the bottom layer should be relatively smaller than the ones at the top. This ensures that the shapes are consistent with the figure of the net.

Now that weve successfully drawn a basketball hoop, its finally time for the most exciting part. In this final step, well be coloring the basketball hoop to make the artwork vibrant and colorful.

This step is optional but we recommend doing so to make the most out of your experience.

Backboards come in a wide range of colors while the hoop or the rim is primarily orange in color, similar to the basketball. The color of the backboard mostly depends on which team is currently playing on the court.

Feel free to use whichever color you like! You can even use more than one color to create a multi-colored basketball hoop! How fun is that?!

Is The Nba Rim 12 Feet

Since about 1987 to the present, its been about 6-foot-7. That means that players today have a much easier time playing above the rim. In the 2008 Slam Dunk competition, Dwight Howard asked the NBA to raise the height of the rim to 12 feet to prove his dunking ability was about more than his height.

Suitable Color Formats For The Basketball Hoop Drawing

Choosing the color pattern for the drawing is completely dependent on personal desire and taste. But it will be perfect to go for the realistic colors.

For the rim: Starting from the coloring of the rim, use either silver or black colored pencils that will look gorgeous. Some creative sketchers also can try a unique type of color to look more attractive.

For the ball: As the real one comes in deep orange with the black bolded lines, use the combination of black and light orange for the main color or the dark orange pencil if possible. For making it more realistic, some names of the clubs such as Canadian bulls or the Lighting Rangers can be suitable to add.

Backboard color: There is no limitation of colors for use in the backboards. So it can be drawn with any lite or dark type of colors. A red, green, or rich blue is a suitable color for the backboard.

Colors for the net: Though coloring the net can become a difficult task to accomplish as there are some angles and areas but still, without coloring them up, the hoop will not look enough beautiful. For having the nets colored, single tone black color is enough.

From drawing to coloring, as all the works have been done completely, now the basketball hoop sketch is ready completely. As I have told earlier of the topic, the process is very easy to perform, if they get performed by rules, the hoop will surely look outstanding and realistic.

By Step Instructions For Drawing A Basketball Hoop

    1. Begin by drawing a flattened oval. Then, draw a smaller oval inside the first. This forms the rim of the basketball hoop.

    2. Extend two straight lines horizontally from one side of the rim. The top line should be longer than the other. Then, extend lines downward from the ends of these lines. Connect them at the bottom using a straight line. This connects the rim to the backboard.

    3. Draw a curved line downward from one side of the rim. This begins the outline of the net.

    4. Draw a curved line extending downward from the other side of the rim. Connect the lines at the bottom using a wavy, irregular line. Then, draw diagonal parallel lines across the net. Follow these by parallel lines on the opposite diagonal. The result will be a crosshatching or checkerboard pattern that indicates the strings of the net.

8.Next, you will give the recessed lines depth, providing the ball with a three dimensional appearance. To do this, draw a curved line parallel to both the vertical and horizontal rib lines.

9.Draw curved lines parallel to the upper and lower rib lines as well. Then, carefully erase the guide lines from the points that the lines cross one another. This allows for a solid recessed line.

    10. Color your basketball. The most common colors are orange with black ribs. Basketballs, however, can be found in a wide variety of colors. Early balls were brown. Some have white markings or represent the national colors of a country, such as red, white, and blue. Others may be pink, black, green, or other colors.

    What Is Basketball

Basketball is a sport where two teams, each with five players, compete on a rectangular court against each other.

The aim is to get the ball through a hoop placed high on a backboard on the opponent’s side of the court while keeping the ball out of your team’s ring.

It is a common sport played worldwide with a small, bouncy orange ball.

Basketball players primarily use dribbling, shooting, running, and jumping skills. A basket made from outside the three-point line is worth three points, while a basket made from inside the three-point line is worth two points. If a player has too much physical contact, he or she might be awarded one-point free throws.

The game usually lasts four quarters, with the winning team being the one with the most points at the end of the four quarters. If the score is tied at the end of regulation, the game will go into overtime, which is extra time for one side to win the match.
