Step 5 Now You Can Finish Off With Some Final Details For Your Easter Egg

Before we move on to the final step of this guide on how to draw an Easter egg, we shall add some final details into the mix.

The previous details that we have added have all been line details, and in this one we shall be adding some circular details.

You can add some small to medium circles in pretty much any area that has a large gap between lines.

As you can see in the reference image, some of these circles will be very small, while some will be quite a bit larger.

These are the details that we added, but before you move on you should feel free to add any extra details that you would like as well!

These could be more lines, more shapes or even some small pictures. How will you put your own spin on this Easter egg drawing?

How To: Eggscellent Easter Egg Drawing

Happy Easter! Andrew Dailey, Cultural Arts Program Supervisor at Rosewood, put together this fun and easy holiday project.

I love to draw and looked around my house for an interesting opportunity for a neat drawing project. I realized that I could draw on eggs and create unique objects. This is such a simple idea that can lead to some very cool results regardless of your skill level.

My materials:

  • Pencil
  • White Color Pencil

To start, I hard boiled a few brown eggs. You want to make sure the eggs are hardboiled and firm, and it is best to draw on them when they are cool but close to room temperature. Brown eggs have a medium color surface that is perfect for drawing with both a light and a dark pencil. If you dont have brown eggs, you can dye an egg a medium color and draw on it, too. I used a basic white colored pencil and a basic number 2 pencil to create the drawings, and I made sure not to press too hard. Using the two pencils, I created contrasts in light and dark to help bring the drawings to life. Simple and fun!

Instructions For Your Easter Egg Art

1. First, draw out an egg shape onto black paper. Kids can draw their own shape or use my printable template provided below. Have kids draw in lines and shapes on the inside of their egg, keeping the design simple.

I used black drawing paper for this project but you can also use black pastel paper or cardstock. The pastels might not look as bright but will still look great!

2. Trace your pencil drawing with white glue. Remind kids to go slowly and carefully with this step. Set this aside to dry overnight. Make sure it dries on a flat surface so the glue doesnt run.

3. Once the glue has dried completely have kids choose the colors they want to use.

4. Start by coloring in the Easter egg with pastels. The glue will act as a barrier to separate the designs making it easier for kids to color in.

Color one section at a time and try blending the color a bit with your finger to smooth out the pastels.

6. Once the Easter egg has been all colored in, choose a color to go around the outside of the egg. Draw thick lines all the way around the outside of your Easter egg.

7. Smudge the pastel in an outward direction all the way around your Easter egg. Using your first two fingers or your first finger to smudge will work the best.

Kids will have fun creating this beautiful chalk pastel Easter egg art project for spring!

How To Draw An Easter Egg Tree

What is an Easter egg tree? The Ostereierbaum, German for Easter egg tree, is an ancient tradition in the countries of Germany, Austria, and other European nations.

It has also migrated to other parts of the world, such as the United States.

The exact origins of the Easter egg tree have been lost with the passage of time, but the egg has been, since antiquity, a symbol of life and fertility for many religions.

This is true of the ancient religions of Europe, which often incorporated plants in worship.

Easter egg trees consist of real or plastic eggs tied to the branches of living trees.

Not only are trees decorated in this way for the Easter holiday, but also for Christmas, May Day, and the summer solstice – all important dates to the ancient religions.

Any type of tree may be used. One famous tree, for example, called the “Saalfelder Ostereierbaum,” is an apple tree. This tree has been decorated yearly since 1965. In recent years, it has held as many as 10,000 eggs. The eggs on this tree are real eggs from which the yolk and egg white has been removed. Bushes such as lilac are often used.

You will need only a pencil or pen and a sheet of paper. If you would like, you may use colored pencils, crayons, or markers to color your finished drawing.

Step 2 Draw In The First Lines Of Decoration

Now that you have the egg outline, its time to start decorating! We have a specific guide that we shall be working on in this guide, but once you have the design ideas mastered you could also apply what you learn to your own designs.

To start, you can start the decoration for your Easter egg drawing near the top where you can use some sharply curved lines for a wavy pattern.

Then, near the midpoint of the egg you can draw three wavy lines across the egg to continue the pattern.

The first two wavy lines will be a bit closer together with the third one being a bit further away from those two lines

Step 3 Now We Shall Add In More Line Details

In this part of this guide on how to draw an Easter egg, we shall be replicating the line details in the last step again.

These three lines will go above the previous ones, however. Much like you did for the previous step, the first two lines will be a bit closer together, whereas the third one will be a little further away.

Once you have it looking like our reference image, youre ready for step 4!

Step By Step Instructions For Drawing Easter Eggs

1. Begin by drawing an oval that is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. This outlines the first egg.

2. Draw a second egg shape, an oval that is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom.

3. Draw a third oval, wider at the bottom, to form yet another egg.

4. Band the first egg with several curved, horizontal lines. Near the center, draw a pair of wavy lines. These lines form different types of stripes.

8. Detail the third egg with wavy curved lines, star shapes, and circles of various sizes.

9. Use short, curved lines to draw tufts of grass beneath the eggs. Texture the ground between them with additional grass.

10. Color you eggs.

Will these eggs hatch? If so, what will they be? The choice is yours. Check out our selection of bird drawing guides to add one to your picture.

Step By Step Instructions For Drawing An Easter Egg Tree

1. Begin by drawing two long, curved lines in a vertical orientation. These lines form the trunk of the tree. Use a series of short, curved lines to enclose the bottom of the trunk, forming roots. Notice that the roots are marked by points where the lines connect.

2. Draw a “V” shaped line between the long, curved lines of the trunk. The lines of the “V” should be parallel to the curved lines, outlining narrow branches. Then, use a connected series of curved lines to begin the cloud-like leaves of the tree.

3. Enclose the leaf bunches using additional curved lines. Then, extend a pair of curved lines upward, forming another branch. Draw a small “V” shaped line between the curved lines, forking the branch.

4. Draw a pair of curved lines extending outward from the trunk of the tree. Draw a small “V” to fork the branch at the end. Then, employ a series of curved lines to enclose another cloud-like bunch of leaves.

8. Decorate the eggs with combinations of stripes, lines, circles, and zigzags.

9. Draw several sets of short, curved lines, meeting in jagged points, beneath the tree. These indicate shaggy grass.

10. Color you tree. What color will it be? Color it green and brown like a real tree, or make it fanciful with rainbow colors. The choice is yours.

How To Draw Easter Eggs

Easter eggs are decorated eggs that are hidden or given as gifts during the Easter season.

Today, Easter eggs are typically chocolates wrapped in colorful foil, or plastic eggs that may contain candy, money, or other prizes.

Children often play a game in which they hunt or search for eggs that have been hidden.

These eggs, however, have a very ancient history.

Since time immemorial, humans have decorated eggs as a spring ritual. Eggs were used to symbolize death, rebirth, and fertility, and were often associated with specific gods or goddesses.

Some of the oldest decorated eggs were ostrich eggs discovered in Africa. These were thousands of years old.

In ancient Egypt, gold or silver statues of ostrich eggs were placed in the tombs of deceased kings.

After the year 100 A.D., numerous rites of worship were adopted by the fledgling Christians. , which was derived from festivals to the Germanic fertility goddess Eostre, was adopted as a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.

The egg decorating custom was also carried over. Eggs were dyed red and were given the symbolism of “the blood of Christ, shed at his crucifixion.”

In modern times, decorated eggs have at times been used as symbols of social status.

Any mediums you use will look great, though!
