This beginners step by step tutorial is for a basic male face. The proportions are different for females.

Many people think that this is difficult to learn how to draw a face , but in fact, it is not. If you follow the most basic tips that I have outlined in this article, you will learn to draw a face easily and quickly.

How to Draw a Face for Beginners

  • Sketch the outlines of the head.

The very first step will begin with the simplest geometric shape a usual oval, which is the base of the face.

  • Draw the facial guidelines.

Draw a vertical and horizontal line that should intersect right in the middle of the oval.

  • Draw the eyes on the face.

On the horizontal line draw eyes in the shape of almonds with circular pupils inside them.

  • Add the eyebrows.

The eyebrows are usually the same size as the eyes, or slightly wider. Draw them using two thick lines.

  • Draw the nose.

The tip of the nose is usually located directly between the line of the eyes and the line of the chin.

  • Draw the mouth.

Note that the distance between the mouth, nose, and chin is almost the same.

  • Erase the guidelines and draw the chin.

When erasing the guidelines from the face, try not to touch the important lines of the drawing.

  • Draw the ears.

The upper tip of the ears is straight with the eyebrows, and the lower edge is even with the tip of the nose.

  • Draw hair.

We decided to choose a fairly classic hairstyle. You can repeat the outlines of the hair from our example or choose any other hairstyle.

  • Step 8 Placing The Mouth

Lets Draw Something: Drawing Anime Face: Step By Step

Position the mouth by first drawing a horizontal line between the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the chin. This line will represent the bottom of the bottom lip. Going up from there draw a horizontal line for the mouth and another one above that for the top of the top lip. The bottom lip tends to be bigger than the top so proportion your drawing accordingly.

Step 9 Add Details And Patterns To The Hair

Complete the look by adding streaks on the hair to add texture on the drawing. Draw multiple long lines down the length of the hair to create an illusion of individual strands.

Here, you can see the drawing of a girls face nearly finished! The only thing its missing is a dash of colors to complete your artwork!

Finally, here is the most exciting partfilling in the colors for your awesome drawing! This is the part where you can show off your artistic skills and your ability to mix and match various colors.

Start by coloring the face. To create a skin tone color, mix the colors red, yellow, brown, and white. Depending on the complexion youre aiming for, you may want to add more of a specific color than the rest.

After coloring the skin, you can move on to the hair and the eyebrows, which should be the same color. Which hair color do you imagine would look best to your drawing? Perhaps a brunette or simple black hair? You can also use more vibrant colors such as pink, purple and more! Its all up to you!

Have fun playing with colors and watch as your girl face drawing ultimately comes to life!

Step 3: On the one side of the U shape draw a curved line, from the tip and joining the center of U. It will look similar to the teardrop shape.

Step 4: From the second side of the flower draw another curve enclosing another partial teardrop shape. 2 petals of the tulip is ready.

Step 5: In between the drawn 2 petals draw an upside-down U shape. This will enclose another petal which is partially visible in middle.

Step 6: On the side of the stem start drawing a leaf. Draw curved lines with a sharp pointed end.

Step 7: Draw another set of leaves below the drawn leaf. Again use the same pattern of drawing with 2 curved lines going outward and meeting at a sharp point.

Step 8: Between each petal draw small petals using a downward V shape.  It will indicate the density with additional petals within the flower.

Step 9: The flower is ready only you need to add details to it. Use small short curved lines along with leaves and petals. Define the texture and depth by contouring it..

Step 10: Add pinkish-red color to your flower and yellowish-green color to the leaves You can outline your drawing with the dark green color.

Heres How To Draw Santas Face With A Simple Step By Step Tutorial Its A Pretty Symmetrical Drawing To Keep It Easy For Young Artists

One way to draw Santa with a lot of impact, is to just concentrate of drawing his face. If you follow my tutorial that you can download below, youll see that its made of some pretty simple shapes, they just need to look symmetrical, like any face does. The exception is the floppy top of his hat, which of course needs to drape down over the side of his head.

Step 1 Drawing The Female Head

To help you make sure that both sides of the head will be of equal width and that the facial features in later steps will be evenly spaced start your drawing by first making a vertical line through the middle of your drawing area. Next draw a circle for the top part of the head and from that project two lines that first go to the jaw area and then curve inwards and go down again at a sharper angle to finally form the curve of the chin.

As this is a female face for the sake of this tutorial we will make the chin fairly small and narrow.

What Is The Colour Of Peacock

Inspired by natures natural pigmentation, Peacock Blue is reminiscent of the green peacock native to South East Asia, whose display of bright, vivid and showy feathers is enchanting. This dark teal colour is artful blend of ratios between the blue and green pigmentation make it almost turquoise in appearance.

Step #2: Draw Two Perpendicular Lines Through The Center

The second step to draw a face is to mark the position of eyes. The easiest method draw two perpendicular lines through the center of the circle.

In the same step, we shall mark the position of the jaw as well. Mark a point on the vertical line, that shall half of the radius away from the periphery of the circle

Step 7 Next Add An Eyebrow

Right above each eye, draw an arched eyebrow. Generally, girls have thinner and more arched eyebrows compared to boys. So, definitely take that into consideration when youre drawing the eyebrows.

Dont be afraid to play around with the eyebrows shape and thickness as much as you like. Just keep in mind that the form of the eyebrows greatly affect the facial expression of your character.

How To Draw People Faces For Kids Step By Step

    Stepan Ayvazyan

In this drawing guide, we will tell you how to draw a baby face. As you know, the face of a small child has many differences from that of an adult.

If you are great at drawing portraits of adults, you cannot immediately create a perfect portrait of a child without training. Therefore, we have created this guide that will allow an artist of any level to practice the skills of drawing children.

Step 8 Add A Blush To The Cheeks

A girls face wouldnt be complete without a hint of blush. A blush will make your drawing look more feminine and it will also add an emotion to your characters face.

In order to add a subtle blushing effect, simply draw two sideways oval shapes on both cheeks. Keep it a bit further from the nose to make it look more natural.

And there you have ita blushing cute girl! With that blush on her cheeks, she looks like shes either pleased or embarrassed. Who knows? Either way, she looks adorable and were certain your drawing looks even more beautiful!

    Step 12 Drawing The Eyelashes

Draw the individual hairs of the eyelashes with slightly different distance between each of them but at the same time try and make the overall distribution fairly even. Eyelashes tend to grow more towards the outer half of the eyes . The hairs of the eyelashes sort of fan out as the follow the curved shape of the eyelids. The eyelashes themselves are also curved but this will be less obvious for the eyelashes that are pointing directly at the viewer.

Heres How To Draw A Face That Follows The General Rules Of Proportion Turns Out We Are All More Similar Than We Are Different A Good Thing To Remember These Days

Learning how to draw a face may seem like a daunting task to some, but theres actually some good news about them. Unlike other subject matter, there are actually some very general rules of proportion that students can follow to help them get off to a good start.

Even though we of course, all look different, everyone tends to have their eyes roughly in the middle of their head, noses end about halfway to our chin, and mouths sit in the middle space left over.

Learning how to have face drawings come out the way you want takes time and practice, of course. But if I had to choose one thing that I wanted any of my elementary students to remember about them, its simply that rule about where to place the eyes. Most tend to draw them too high, not in the middle, and that gets the spacing of everything else off too. Eyes need to be placed in the middle, before any hair is drawn, which might affect their judgement.

Speaking of hair, I added a page to my tutorial that gives some examples of how different styles of hair can look. And some glasses too, just for good measure.

Step 2: Draw Guidelines On The Face

There are 2 ways to do this step: Ruler or no ruler. I highly recommend using the ruler method for the first couple of faces you draw. Why? Because doing this step without it can throw your proportions off like crazy. Especially if you have trouble locating the center of an object with your eyes. The no ruler method requires you to split multiple sections of the face in half and then in half again.

Ruler Method: Make a ruler beside your drawing that is the same height. The ruler should be marked so there are 8 equal spaces. Always start with the center line.Draw faint lines through the face on the markings labelled CENTER LINE, 2, 3, A, and C. As you get used to this, you wont need to draw the ruler on the side.

No Ruler Method: Without the ruler, I draw lines in this order: CENTER LINE, 2, 3, B, A, C . This is the method I use to draw heads all the time.

Super SIMPLE Method: If its still a little confusing, check out my simple method here. Its also paired with a video so you can see how I do it!

Step 3: Draw a big bulky cheek with 2 long ears on the top of the head, you can little differentiate with the shape of the ear.

Then draw the arms which are a little curved in the center, draw 2 similar types of parallel lines joining them on the top, follow the given image for reference.

Step 4: Use your pencil tenderly dont over press on it, and then draw a curved leg that is flat at the bottom. Similarly, draw a small tail at the back or bulky part of the pear shape. Until this step, your cartoon rabbit is clearly visible.

Step 5: Now pay attention to the face, double the ear lines, pupils inside the eyes, and give a triangular shape to the nose. Draw broad teeth inside the mouth.

Step 6: Draw a carrot in between the hands of the rabbit as also it is a favorite fruit of the animal. Add eyebrows and fingers to legs.

    Drawing Faces For Kids

Weve been drawing a lot of faces around here. Self portraits in the traditional style as well as body tracing self portraits and collage self portraits. Drawing faces remains one of our familys favorite ways to express our creativity. And not just our family. The human face is one of the subjects that many children draw repeatedly over the years, beginning with the most basic circle and eyes around 3.

Step: 1 First You Must Intersect The Lines

Free Coloring Pages: How To Draw A Face For Kids Step 7 ...

In this first step we have to set up the contours first, with the help of which we will create the face of a boy. First of all, you have to draw a line 8.5 cm long at an angle of 120 degrees. You must put some marks on this line. You can apply paint marks with the help of below image. That would be very helpful in doing our drawing.

The Proportion Of A Child’s Head

The canon of ideal proportions is useful when trying to become familiar with the head structure, but is otherwise of limited use. This is particularly true when drawing children, as their soft bones and rapid growth dramatically change their head structure.

A baby’s forehead is proportionately larger than an adult’s. The halfway point on an adult is just below the eyes. With a baby, you’ll find the middle of the eyes is about 3/7ths of the way up the face. The first seventh gives you the lower lip and the next seventh places the nose.

As children grow, the forehead becomes smaller. When working with older children, divide the face into similar increments to help you place the features.

    Step 3 Proportioning The Face

To create guidelines for the first set of facial features divide the face into four parts using horizontal lines. You will want to draw the lines from the hairline area of the head down towards the chin in a way where you will have three evenly spaced section of the face plus the smaller hairline portion for a total of four.

Step: 6 Now The Drawing Is Done

This is the final step of the process of drawing the boys face. In this we are sketching out the hairs of the boy. Hair sketch is a very easy sketch. Here is a video tutorial to help you. Tips For Drawing A Face

Here are some tips I give my art students when were drawing a face in class.

  • If drawing from a photograph, change the image to black and white. It will be easier to see all the different grey tones in the picture.

    2.  Use a very light pencil to start . It will be easier to erase and make any changes.

    3.  Begin with the shape of the face. Be sure to pay attention to this shape. Some faces are oval, while others are round or heart-shaped.

    4.  Add a guidelines in the shape of a t to help you place the features such as the eyes, nose, and mouth.

    5.  After you draw an eye, measure its length with your pencil or scrap of paper. This is usually the distance between the eyes as well.

    6.  Instead of drawing lines for the sides of the nose, create shadows there instead. You can use some graphite on your finger or on a .

    7.  To change or lighten your shadows, use a kneaded eraser.

    8.  If the mouth is closed, notice the straight line between the lips. This line actually extends past the lips.

    9.  Keep the center of the nose lined up with the center of the lips.

    10.  The top of the ear usually attaches to the head along the same guidelines as the eyes. It curves up from there.

    11.  When drawing hair, create lines that mimic the hair. For example, for short hair, use short lines. For long hair, make your lines long. Wavy or curly hair? Make the lines curve!

    12.  To get the features in just the right place, try drawing using a grid.
