Paint The Eye And Legs
The eye is just a dot of black. Use that tiny #0 brush to paint it. Then for the legs, I mixed equal parts pink and white with a tiny bit of black. It makes this gray-pink color. Use that tiny #0 rush to paint the legs in. NOTE: The legs are supposed to be opposite of what the photo shows below . Then paint a black line on the far right of the legs.

How to Draw a Flamingo for Kids
You need to start by drawing the top of the head in a semicircle shape and from it draw the lines of the neck that end in wavy lines. The shape must be 2 shaped
Start with a black dot in the center of the head to indicate the eye. Draw the beak in the form of an inverted triangle. Note that the flamingos beak is large and hooked.
Draw the body at the base of the neck as shown in the instructions.
Draw a wing in the middle of the torso, and to indicate the feathers, draw several small, unfinished ovals on one side.
From the sketch torso, draw two parallel lines downward, at the end of which a foot with 3 toes.
How To Draw A Flamingo Instructions:
1. Draw a teardrop shape for the side of the flamingoâs body.
2. Draw a long curvy line for its neck. Then draw a sort of slanted oval for its head. 3. Draw the second line for its neck. Then draw the flamingoâs side wing.
4. Then draw the beak. The beak starts inwards from its head. Start the base of the beak with a curve. Then draw the rest of its beak so that it slants down and then bends down to a point.
5. Erase the part of the beak that overlaps the head. Then draw the middle line of the beak but donât go all the way to the base with this line. Then draw the tip of the beak and fill it in solid. Next draw one tiny circle and fill it in for the eye.

How To Draw A Cartoon Flamingo With A Cool Posture
This simple tutorial will help you learn to draw a cartoon flamingo! Did you know that the reason some flamingos are pink is only because they are eating some healthy bacterias through their food supplies?
However, that might not explain why they stand on one leg! But with these two characteristics alone, it’s really easy to recognize a flamingo from a turkey! Let’s try to draw a nice flamingo in this new and easy tutorial!
Like most characters, you should start your artwork by sketching the head of your flamingo. First, draw a nice oval shape to form the head. This shape should be thin and slightly leaning towards the ground. Next, add to circles to illustrate the eyes. The one on the left should be behind the head and the right eye.
Now let’s work on the beak. The top of the beak should be round and medium in size. When this shape is drawn, just add a small triangle under it to represent the tip of the beak.
Move on to the body of your flamingo. Just sketch a nice a long oval shape to create the body. When you are finished, add two rectangles to form the neck of your character. The head, the neck and the body of your flamingo should look like a “z” right now.
Now it’s time to convert these basic shapes into a recognizable animal! Work on the outline of your flamingo. You can add some feathers on the top of the head and on the tip of the wing. Also, make sure that the neck is curved and delicate.
Now Finish Off Your Flamingo With Color
Youve reached the final step of this guide on how to draw a flamingo, and now its time for coloring fun!
Flamingos have a distinctive pink color scheme, and while there are lots of ways you could make that beautiful, you could also go for a more stylized approach by using your favorite colors.
Once you know which colors you would like to use, you could have some fun experimenting with different art mediums.
If you primarily use a certain art medium, why not give one that youre not as familiar with a go?
There are options like watercolors and colored pencils for a more muted look, while you can get some bold color variations with acrylic paints and colored pens.
Whatever you pick will look great, so have fun experimenting!

Paint The Sand Unbleached Titanium White
Using that same one inch flat, I pretty much filled in the rest of the area under the shore line with a solid coat of unbleached titanium white. Make sure that your strokes are still going horizontal here! I did leave a little bit of gap between the shore line and the sand. This isnt necessary but it did help with the next step of painting the soft white waves.

Flamingos are also masters of balance. They can stand on one leg for several hours! During that time, another leg is tucked close to the body. It is supposed that such a pose helps to conserve heat, as flamingos spend much time feeding in cold water. A more recent hypothesis is that standing on one leg may require less effort, allowing the birds to support the bodyweight without any muscle activity.
The coloration of flamingos feathers varies from pink or orange to wonderful reds. It comes from the carotenoid pigments that are found in the birds food. A wild flamingos ration includes shrimp, algae, and plankton. Captive flamingos are fed a diet that helps to preserve their coloration.
However, not all flamingos can boast of such bright plumage. Some birds are grayish or white. The typical coloration of young birds is also less saturated.
In this drawing tutorial, Ill show you an easy way to draw a flamingo with wonderful pink feathers. Well start with a graphite pencil outline. Then well add some watercolor. At the finishing stage of the process, well work on textures and finer details using colored pencils.

Add Some Color Variation In The Palms
Then I mixed light green permanent with white . Using that light green, I painted more palm lines directly next to the ones that were already painted. I only did this on the left of the palm. This gives variation to the color almost like you are painting highlights. Then on the right side of the palm branch, I painted hookers green mixed with black.
You Can Refer To The Simple Step
Keep track of a small circle at the head of the head. Then, add a small moon for the beak and draw a line through it for the mouth. Create a dot on the face of the flamingo for an eye.
Make a flamingo! Draw a circle of medium size but do not close! Instead, create a pointed shape at the end of it for the tail.
Watch two S-like lines together for your neck. Heres a tip: make sure S is backwards!
Draw the wings, now, below the body, making it pointed at one end but curved over the other.
Under the wings, draw two straight lines down for the front leg. Be careful! In the middle of the leg, form a small circle. Thats for the flamingos knee!
Now, hind legs bent forward. Heres a tip: turn your paper towards its side, and track two lines as you would a wide V, ensuring that you do not track on the front leg! Do not forget that knee! Follow a small circle just above the bend in the foot.
Add your feet by tracing two small V-shapes at the ends of each leg. Finally paint the bird.

Lets Add The Wings In This Step
A bird needs wings to be a proper bird, so thats why were drawing the wings in this fifth step of this guide on how to draw a flamingo.
The wing is made up of a simple, curved line like the one in our reference image. It will curve for longer at the front of the flamingo, and be much shorter at the back.
Paint The Sky Cerulean Blue And White
Use a one inch flat brush to paint the sky. Start with cerulean blue and paint a solid line at the very top. Paint long horizontal strokes. Then gradually add white into the cerulean blue and blend it on the canvas. The sky should be pure cerulean at the top and it fades to a white-blue. The horizon line is a very light blue, almost white.

Creating A Color Base
Lets add some beautiful painterly washes!
With round brush #5, I moisten the area with clean water before applying the paint. Note that watercolor is heavily diluted. You can use a palette or a spare piece of paper to try the intensity of your colors before making marks on the final surface.
The type of paper affect the result. My paper has some percentage of cotton in its structure. Its no wonder that the applications of watercolor will look significantly faded after drying.
I add Madder Lake Red Light mostly to the upper part of the birds body, including the head and neck.
Quinacridone Rose is applied to the legs and the lower areas of the wing. These areas would normally get less light from the environment. This wonderful red-violet color accents the subtle transition to shadowed areas.
I use a smaller brush #2 to paint the head, neck, and legs of the flamingo.
I apply an additional layer of watercolor to the darkest parts, such as the upper legs, the area under the wing, and the gaps between the feathers.
Pigments tend to consolidate into harsh edges near the contours of the figure. I use the smaller brush to push the pigments away from the edge while wet, without any pigment loaded in the brush.
I also add some diluted Yellow Ochre to the beak. Flamingos can be found at a beach, so Ive decided to create a hint at sand under the birds feet.
First, I moisten the area with a clean brush. Then I apply the watercolor.
Draw The Neck Of Your Flamingo In This Step
We mentioned earlier how a flamingos long neck is a distinctive feature for this beautiful bird, so we had better add one for your flamingo drawing!
With lines that start directly under the beak and down from the back of the head, simply draw two curved lines coming down from the head.
There will be a gap between the lines at the end, but we will be adding the body to that area in the following steps.

Draw Some Lanky Legs For The Flamingo
Its finally time to add those distinctive flamingo legs in this part of our guide on how to draw a flamingo!
This flamingo will be striking the classic flamingo pose theyre often seen in. For the leg closest to us, the front line will go straight down.
The other side of the leg will too, but there will be a small lump near the middle for the knee.
The leg further away from us will be thin as well, however it will be bent at an angle so that that curled foot is slightly above the water.
Speaking of the water, you can draw that in with a straight line underneath the legs.

Drawing A Flamingo With Colored Pencils
With Light Flesh, I cover the whole figure of our flamingo, including the legs and the lighter areas of the beak. My pencil moves in small circles. Directional lines are also an option.
The pressure on the pencil is light.
The application of this tint doesnt change much in our artwork. It rather creates a base for further colored pencil applications. There is just a minor shift in the color temperature the colors have become warmer.
I add Rose Carmine to the darker areas, applying it as a solid layer. Such areas include the lower parts of the head and body. I deepen the shadows between the wing feathers. The pressure is slightly increased.
Also, I mark out the legs by making their right sides a bit darker. Soft shadows help to differentiate the toes visually. I work on the neck, following a similar approach.
The upper part of the body is lighter, so I use this color to reveal some basic details of texture. I apply long lines that conform to the contours of the birds body. They imitate long, fluffy feathers.
When Im working on such details, I always make sure that the tip of the pencil is sharp.
I add groups of short directional hatches to the lighter parts of the neck. They create the illusion of texture.
There is a soft pink spot on the flamingos beak, so I add it. I also darken the area near the eye.
In the image below, youll find a couple of samples of texture.

Six species of flamingo live in tropical regions around the world – the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The birds are highly social. In Africa, flocks of flamingos sometimes number into the millions.
The word flamingo comes from the Spanish and Portuguese word flamengo, meaning “flame colored.” This was used to describe the flamingo’s bright plumage.
The flamingo can be seen on Peruvian pottery dating back 2,000 years. Flamingos are frequently seen in popular culture. In the United States, plastic pink flamingos are popular lawn ornaments. These are seen as symbols of vacations and summer. As such, similar figures can be seen on clothing, accessories, car air fresheners, and much more.
