How to Draw a Gold Bar

Educated purchases and decisions are important, in all facets of life, but especially when it comes to spending your hard earned money. Gold and jewelry is no different. When purchasing or selling gold it’s very important to know exactly why something is priced the way that it is.

Knowing the pure gold content in a piece helps you eliminate some outside influencing factors and break down the price to its simplest form: the gold.

What Is Karat Weight

Karat is a measure of gold fineness used in the United States. Outside of the US, it’s commonly spelled as “carat” which can get really confusing since that’s ALSO the unit of weight used to measure diamonds and gems. Put simply it is the amount of pure gold alloyed into a piece of jewelry or gold work. Put not so simply, a gold karat is 1/24 part, or 4.1667% of the whole, and the karat weight number indicates how many parts of gold to parts of alloy are in a piece.

24k gold is 100 parts gold or 100%. 16 karat gold is 16 parts gold to 8 parts other material for a pure gold percentage of 67%.

Don’t worry if this is a little confusing, we’ll simplify this horrific flashback to math class with an easy to remember process below and a handy-dandy gold content chart to boot!

Draw A Second Bar For The Image

Earlier in this guide on how to drawgold, we mentioned that we will be drawing a small pile of these gold bars.

We will add some details to the first bar shortly, but first we shall draw another bar. This one will be behind the initial bar, and the first one will be leaning on this one.

Because this second bar is lying flat, the edges will naturally look a bit different.

Draw the edges of this second bar, and then add some more shading details to the edges as you did for the other one.

This one will have a little more shading than the first one did, as it is more obscured.

Sizes & Shapes Of Gold Bars

The difference between mint bars and cast bars are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to variations in gold bars. The U.S. Gold Bureau carries a plethora of different sized bars, both cast and mint. One of the most important factors people take into account when buying gold is what size to purchase. As stated previously, gold can be found in almost any weight you can imagine. The single gram or 1 gram bar is about about as small as you can go when it comes to gold bars with investment potential. Sometimes referred to as the “small bills” of the gold world, these tiny bars are just about the size of a thumbtack. The 5, 10, and 20 gram bars are the next steps up in terms of gold bar weights.

The 10 gram bar is often popular because it is still quite tiny, but carries an attractive amount of heft to itself. This is because gold as a metal, although soft and malleable, is still quite heavy. The 20 ounce bars are also popular, in part due to their similar feel and weight of the ubiquitous 1 troy ounce gold bar, which actually weighs just over 30 grams. It’s even possible to purchase bars that weigh as much as 50 grams or heavier. These are heavy bars but fit well in the palm of one’s hand. One advantage of buying bars in larger sizes is that the price-per-ounce ends up being less than if you were to buy exclusively in small amounts. Just like in most commodities, it can be smart to buy gold in bulk.

Add The Final Details To Your Gold Drawing

Now its time to finish off the final details of this guide on how to drawgold.

First, finish off the outline for the final gold bar that you started in the prior step. Be sure to add lots of shading details to this one as well!

Once that bar is drawn, we will then add some details onto the very first bar that you drew. We will draw the word gold onto it, and then at the base we will show the weight by drawing 1000g.

When you have drawn these final details, you can finish it off by adding your own details! What kind of background do you imagine would suit these gold bars?

An Introduction To Gold Bars

Since its discovery, the precious metal gold has never ceased to fascinate. Initially used heavily in pieces of jewelry and currency, today it can be found in a number of other various industries due to its impressive conductivity and malleability. Though currently it’s not often found in circulated pieces of currency, the precious metal is still widely collected across the world by civilians and governments alike. While gold coins or rounds are still popular, frequently gold is stockpiled in bar form due to a number of factors like the number of available sizes and how easy it is to track, stack, and store. Here at the U.S. Gold Bureau, we take a lot of pride in the wide variety of gold we offer. This is especially true when it comes to our stock of gold bars. Ranging in size from 1 ounce bars to 100 gram bars, you should be able to find whatever sized ingot you’re looking for. What’s more, we carry bars from a number of different refiners and manufacturers. Get bars made by International Trade Bullion or take a look at package deals that contain gold bullion from a number of different refineries like RMC, Perth Mint, and PAMP.

How To Draw An Oyster With A Pearl

Click HERE to save the tutorial to Pinterest!

Did you know that pearls are not ordinary rocks or mere beads made by man? Pearls are actually made by an ocean animal called an oyster. How does an oyster make a pearl?

The oyster’s shell is lined with a shiny material called mother of pearl or nacre. When some irritant, such as a piece of sand, gets caught in the oyster’s shell, the cells of its mantle – the area where its body connects to its shell – cover the foreign matter with mother of pearl. This prevents it from hurting the animal.

Depending on the environment, this covering could be black, white, pink, grey, blue, yellow, cream, purple, or green.

Scroll down for a downloadable PDF of this tutorial.

Oysters have been cultivated by humans for at least 2,000 years, and pearls have been used for much longer – pearl collection has been documented in China since at least 1,000 B.C.

Pearls may be strung together to make a necklace, or used in other pieces of jewelry or decorative elements.

Would you like to draw an oyster holding a precious pearl? This easy, step-by-step drawing tutorial is here to help.

All you will need is a pencil, pen, or marker and a sheet of paper. You may also wish to use a variety of colors to shade your finished drawing.

By Step Instructions For Drawing An Oyster With A Pearl

    1. Begin by drawing a series of overlapping curved lines. This will form the body of the oyster.

    2. Next, draw a long wavy line across the front and bottom of the body, fully enclosing the shape of the body. This also forms the scalloped edge of the shell.

    3. Continue the wavy line around the front and top of the oyster’s body, connecting again to the body at the back. This encloses another portion of the shell.

    4. Draw another scalloped line all around the shell, parallel to the original line. Connect it to the original line at each end.

    8. Draw short curved lines to the valleys of the scalloped edges on the back side of the lower shell. Draw a few curved horizontal lines across the inside of the upper shell as well. Then, draw a curved line from the back of the oyster’s lower shell to a point above the scalloped edge of the upper shell. Draw a series of similar lines, overlapping one another, until the upper shell is complete. The last few lines should connect to the scalloped edge.

    9. Draw a curved line through the middle of the oyster’s body, with a circle resting upon it. Draw two circular shapes of different sizes within the circle. This is the oyster’s precious pearl.

    Why Is Gold Alloyed

Gold is alloyed because in it’s purest form, it’s too soft for jewelry. It can easily be bent with the bare hand, or scratched, or marred. By alloying pure gold with other metals the resulting mixture is strengthened to fit a specific usage or market. It’s also alloyed to help reduce the cost and make it more accessible to wider range of potential customers/owners. This is why generally you’ll see 10k jewelry at a lower price point in comparison to, say, 18k or 22k jewelry – the amount of pure gold is higher or lower, which affects the price.

Alloying metal is the process of mixing metals and non-metals to achieve different desired properties in the metal being alloyed. Gold is typically alloyed to make it stronger and less expensive to the mass consumer.

    Creating Material Bar Charts

How to Make Prop Gold Bars

In 2014, Google announced guidelines intended to support a commonlook and feel across its properties and apps that run on Google platforms. We call this effort MaterialDesign. We’ll be providing “Material” versions of all our corecharts you’re welcome to use them if you like how they look.

Creating a Material Bar Chart is similar to creating what we’ll nowcall a “Classic” Bar Chart. You load the Google Visualization API, define your datatable, and thencreate an object .

Note: Material Charts will not work in oldversions of Internet Explorer.

Material Bar Charts have many small improvements over Classic BarCharts, including an improved color palette, rounded corners, clearerlabel formatting, tighter default spacing between series, softergridlines and titles .

    < html> < head> < script type="text/javascript" src="https://www.gstatic.com/charts/loader.js"> < /script> < script type="text/javascript"> google.charts.load google.charts.setOnLoadCallback function drawChart , bars: 'horizontal' // Required for Material Bar Charts. } var chart = new google.charts.Bar) chart.draw) }< /script> < /head> < body> < div id="barchart_material" style="width: 900px height: 500px "> < /div> < /body> < /html>

Using google.charts.Bar.convertOptions allows you to take advantage of certain features, such as the hAxis/vAxis.format preset options.

Important Gold Bar Language & Terms

Gold bars can refer to a multitude of different things. Also called ingots or bullion, a gold bar in the most simple terms is gold of certain purity that has been formed into the shape of a rectangular cube. However, there are a lot more terms that can be applied to better describe a gold bar. For instance, if a gold bar is minted, that means it went through a more rigorous creation process. It involves a bank or refinery cutting the gold into set dimensions. In this way, minted gold bars should all be precise in regards to dimensions and purity. A cast bar is easier to make. It merely involves pouring the melted gold into a mold and then letting it form and harden into a bar form. Since these bars aren’t cut to specific dimensions, cast bars may be unevenly shaped and vary slightly in appearance from bar to bar. It’s often common for cast bars to be handled differently than minted bars. A mint bar will frequently be sealed in a protective packaging whereas a cast bar is more likely to be handled directly.

Gold bars, be they mint or cast, are especially popular due to the low premium they carry when compared to smaller pieces like gold coins or rounds.
