6.1- Put the drawer on the van’s floor. To create clearance between the drawer and the floor, insert a shim between the van floor and the drawer.

The gap is to ensure a smooth operation of the drawer without rubbing against the van’s floor.

6.2- Put the structure on the van’s floor.

Mate it with the drawer, where it belongs.

6.3- With a pen, mark the location of the extension slides onto the structure.
6.4- Using the marks from the previous step, screw the extension slides into the structure.

You can do this outside the van as it will be much easier to work that way .

6.5- Here, we are making a small cutout to the structure so it clears the nose stair:

Preparing For Your Build

Dont even think of building your womens mountain bike until every single one of your components has arrived.

We know some people have jumped the gun on their bike build and, often, they find that they have to undo everything that they had already done in order to slide a late-arriving component into their build.

As we said, were not going to go through every single stage of the bike build here. This is because every single bike build is different.

What we do suggest that you do is carry out your research into the type of bike build youre doing i.e. all of the components that youre using and work out how everything is supposed to fitting together.

The process will likely be something similar to this:

  • Attaching the headset to the frame
  • Attaching the fork to the frame
  • Attaching the wheels
  • Attaching shifters and brakes to the handlebars
  • Installing crank-set
  • Attaching or replacing the pedals
  • Attaching the seat

As you can see, there are a lot of steps here. Each individual step will involve numerous tasks. This is why its so important that you draw up a plan of how you want to be attaching everything together before you jump in. This way you dont get anything wrong.

How To Draw A Cartoon Bicycle Using Simple Tips

This easy tutorial will help you learn to draw a cartoon bicycle! There are no better ways to get in shape and to travel than using a bicycle. This is a mode of transportation that will probably never disappear. It’s 100% ecological and relatively cheap to buy! So let’s see how you could draw a simple bicycle in seven easy steps! First, you can use the video lesson below. Then, you can try the written version located below the video. 🙂

Step 1

First, draw two circles to form the tires. Don’t draw them too much apart from one another. You should not be able to draw another tire between these two. If you can, then you should draw your wheels closer.

Step 2

Add three more circles. One for the chain wheel and two mores for the front and rear hubs. Make sure that the chain wheel is slightly touching the rear tire.

Step 3

It’s now time to sketch the tubes of your bicycle. Just follow carefully the illustration above to make sure that the position and proportion of your tubes are accurate!

Step 4

Finally, add the basic shapes for the saddle, the handlebars and the pedal.

Step 5

Now it’s time to refine your drawing! Work on the tires and make sure the wheels are perfectly round. Then, draw some lines to create the spokes. Don’t draw too many of them, otherwise your drawing will be saturated with useless lines.

Step 6

Now work on the body of your bicycle. Make sure that the saddle is perfectly shaped and that all tubes are now joined into a solid and unique element.

Mountain biking is a type of cycling where bikers ride off-road through varied terrain. One popular subset of mountain biking called dirt jumping features cyclists who perform various jumps and tricks, launching their bikes off of ramps made from compressed dirt. However, learning to do a proper jump can be useful for all categories of mountain biking. If you are interested in this sport, consider mastering correct jumping form and safety.

Mail Order Or Bike Shop

How to draw a mountain bike like an industrial designer

If you truly are a beginner to mountain biking, then were going to nail our colours to the mast here and emphasize the added value of getting your first proper mountain bike from a real bricks-and-mortar bike shop. Bike shops give you knowledge and experience. Two vital things when starting out mountain biking and both worth their weight in gold. Not to mention the fact that in most instances you can sit astride a real bike and potentially even actually go for a test ride on a demo bike.

Ask around for recommendations on which bike shops to visit. Ask any MTBing friends or family you have. Ask on social media for where the decent bike shops are. Good bike shops wont let you walk out with the wrong bike. Good bike shops dont want to fleece you. Good bike shops want you to come back to them again and again. Good bike shops want to have a relationship with their customers.

Other Questions To Help You Decide

Do you already own a mountain bike? If you already own a mountain bike than I encourage you to take it for a test commute. You can plan out your route and see exactly how long it takes you get to work. The nice thing is you wont need to spend a dime. The best bike to start commuting with is the bicycle you already own. Give it a shot, and if you get hooked on commuting you can always buy a different type of bike later.

How far is your commute? I wrote an article on How far is too far to bike to work? that may be beneficial in your decision. You should determine how much time you have to commute. If youre planning to ride a mountain bike 12 miles on paved road than youre looking at a 50 to 60 minute commute depending on your fitness level. Do you have that much time to spend on a bike? If not, it may be wise to choose a road bike to be able to ride faster and get to work in less time.

Completing And Testing The Mountain Bike Build

Once everything has been pieced together, you still need to spend a bit of time calibrating everything.

This means ensuring that the derailleur is in the right position, that the chain is moving smoothly, that the gears work, etc. Then you have the staple adjusting the height of your seat, handlebars, etc.

The last part of the build is essentially the same sort of stuff that you would be doing if you were doing a spot of maintenance of your bike. Therefore, it should be pretty simple.

Learning how to build a mountain bike is neither going to be a cheap or easy process.

Expect to be spending at least 20-30% more on components than if you bought the bike directly from a manufacturer. Expect to be spending hours and hours on your build.

However, at the end of it, youll have completed a highly rewarding process. Youll have ended up with a bike thats truly designed for you.

Is Carbon Worth It

How To Make Your MTB Suspension Really Work | Mountain Bike Suspension Set Up Guide

Theres nothing wrong with carbon but it certainly is not worth the price premium.

Carbon frames are a bit lighter than aluminium frames but not by as much as you might think. How much weight do you save by spending, say, an extra £1000 to get the carbon frame version of a bike model? About 700g. Now then, 700g may be significant on a high end road bike but on MTB trail bikes that weigh 14kg+ it is much more marginal.

How Much Should You Spend On The Best Beginner Mountain Bike

Were not going to come out with a specific price point that you should be aiming for if youre just starting out in mountain biking. People are different. Some people will want to spend as little as possible. Other folks will want to less money-mindful and will just want to dive straight in and splash the cash. Then therell be the mid-range folk who dont want to skimp but also dont want to be wasting their hard-earned on OTT MTBs.

All we would say is that you should be spending at least £400. And be aware that the law of diminishing returns with mountain bike price tags kicks in at around £2500 mark. In other words, bikes do get better and/or lighter if you spend more than £2.5k but the leaps in progress get smaller and smaller the more money you throw it at. You really are get very little more for your money when you enter the realm of bikes costing more than £3k.

The Creative Artists And Process

Below is an image of Gearman, he is an attempt at showing, the workings of how creative artists, with their imagination, create illusions from everyday objects, something I have done many times, when drawing because you can often see things, in other things.

Yes, I know this is not, a creative drawing as such but is it, because it is not a photograph either, except for the, LX mountain bike gears, the rest could be considered a digital drawing, rather than a pencil drawing but in this format, it more easily shows the process, of seeing things, as other things.

If you draw pictures, any pictures, out of you imagination, from a picture or from life and you look, at what you are doing, you will start to see other things, this is not likely to happen at first because you will need, to build up visual memory from doing, a stock of past works, this is often called a repertoire. This is why, it is important to practice by doing drawings, all the time but if you like drawing, like many people do and you are a creative artist, it will not be a problem, as you will soon have a repertoire.

I want to tell you a little story, it is a bit of a dark story but a true story, all the same and also a good reason for understanding, a little bit more, about what I am trying to explain, about visual memory and creative artists.

How To Purchase Your Components

Many people that are looking into how to build a mountain bike from scratch seem to believe that its going to be cheaper than purchasing a readymade mountain bike from a manufacturer. It isnt. Even if you used exactly the same components, then you can still expect your DIY mountain bike to be a good 20-30% more expensive.

Even if you wait for a few sales, youll still end up paying a lot more. As a result, you should only really be building your own MTB if you love the idea of a project, or youre simply looking for a bike build that no manufacturer offers.

Before you even think about shopping for bike components, you are going to need to make a list up of everything that you want in your dream bike. This may be a specific frame style or material. It may be a type of braking system that you really want or even a specific gear ratio.

Once you have made up a list of your ideal components, you can get to researching them. Not all bike components are going to be compatible with one another. For example, the type of frame that you want may not necessarily accept the wheels that you need.

This means that you may need to make a few sacrifices here and there. This stage is one of the most important parts of the bike build. If you skip it, you may end up with components that simply arent fit for purpose.

Youd Be Surprised How Hard It Is To Draw A Bike From Memory

Text by

Ever tried to draw a bike from memory? Its surprisingly hard. Thats what Gianluca Gimini, a teacher of design at the University of Ferrara, discovered when he asked friends and family to sketch their favorite whips. People forgot critical parts like rear triangles and seatposts, creating totally un-roadworthy frankensteeds. But lots of the sketches were beautiful and inventive, and Gimini decided to turn them into digital renderings as part of a project hes calling Velocipedia. Here are some of his favorites.

This one is from Leonardo, one of my students at the Università of Ferrara. You can trust me that Leonardo knows a bike has a chain and pedals!

I really fell in love with this design from Fiorenza. I forgave her for forgetting that wheels are attached by the hub and not the tire , but I couldnt resist the way the handlebar connects to the fork.

Massimos is the most functional, innovative design I rendered. It uses a bit more metal for the frame than the normal diamond shape, but it would actually ride pretty well.

This one is from my uncle. I think the last time he rode a bike was when he was a child, and thats why his design has a little flag. Clearly this model could never steer, but I do like it very much.

A design from my cousin, whos a doctor and biked regularly until a few years ago. I guess hes just not the best observer: his design is possibly the oddest, with both a lateral frame and two-wheel drive.
