As always, we begin by drawing the construction of the main body of the mouse. We always begin an animal drawing by using construction shapes and lines, so that we have the correct proportions and perspective. We always want our drawings to be as realistic as possible, and this process is an easy way to ensure that. For the mouse, we are going to use an elongated oval shape that lies horizontally in the middle of your canvas.

The most important thing to remember in this first step is to leave plenty of space around your main body oval, as we are going to be adding onto this shape.

    How To Draw Easy Mice

The first thing you have to do is draw an equilateral triangle, with the base at the top of the drawing. That triangle is going to be the basis for making the mouse body.

Once you have the triangle drawing, you can start to configure the body shape. The cusp of the triangle, which you have on the back, you will start to round it in such a way that you configure the mouses snout. Do you see it in the finished drawing? Something similar is what you have to do at the top. The triangle has a straight base. The mouse ends in a curved shape, so you start rounding the back of the mouse.

The next step is to make the ears. Approximately in the middle of the sides of the triangle, and symmetrically, you will make two circles, with half inward and half outward. At this moment you already have the basics of the complete mouse, and now you can start to make the details, to get drawings of running mice.

You can start making the details of the mouse face: at the bottom end you have to make another triangle with rounded tips. That is the nose. From there to the sides you can draw the whiskers.

Between the ears and the nose you must put your eyes. In this case there are two ovals with a circle inside. The inner circle can be painted black, which would be the pupil.

In the drawing of the eyes you can vary different options, depending on the skill you are taking with the drawing. If you add some eyes of the cartoon type, you will get a nice mouse drawing.

    Constructing The Mouses Ears

In this step, we are laying down the construction shapes for the ears of our mouse. Begin by drawing an egg-like oval shape that is slightly angled towards the back of your main body oval. Ideally, this oval should be around a third of the way into the main body oval, and only the top corner should extend beyond the main body.

Repeat the same step with a smaller oval at the same angle as the previously drawn oval. You want this smaller oval to sit in front of the bigger one, and more of it should poke out the top of the main body oval.

At the end of this step, you should have two ovals on your main body that represent the ears of our tiny mouse.

Drawing The Final Outline Of Your Mouse

How to Draw a Mouse Cartoon Easy Drawing Lesson for Kids

Once all of the basic construction lines have been drawn, we will create the final outline of our mouse. With a darker pencil, we can start to line the shape of our mouse more finely. Start with the front of the mouse, detailing the nose and beginning to join it to the main body, with a bit of a dip in the top part of the nose to form a snout. Then, draw a thick line down from the nose, using it to make a mouth line towards the bodys oval. From the line of the main oval for the body, draw a line down and move it in slightly.

The ears construction ovals can be followed quite closely, but dont copy in the bottoms of the ears.

When the face is outlined in a thick line, the rest of the outlines should be drawn with short lines to make them seem like fur. You will want these short fur lines to outline the mouses body, bending towards the back. The nearer you get to the back, the lengthier these strokes can be. As you reach close to the tail line, leave the same space on either side without putting any fur on the tail just yet.

You can also create an additional nose piece by detailing a small curve in the nose circle. Mice drawing is easy when you follow the right steps.

Supplies For How To Draw A Mouse Easy Tutorial

Although we are providing a list of supplies, you can complete this tutorial with your favorite medium, whatever that is. If you are a graphic artist, you can follow this tutorial using your drawing tablet, or if watercolor paint is your joy, then you can modify the tutorial easily. If you want to follow along with us exactly, we are using pencil on paper, and we recommend these drawing supplies:

Adding The Final Details And Shading

The first thing to do in this final step is to color the iris of the eye black. You can leave three small white sections to act as reflections of light. Next, using a darker pencil or a brush, add some gentle shading to your mouse. When shading, follow the same direction of the fur to emphasize the flow. If you are using a pencil on paper for this tutorial, you can use a cotton swab to blend out your shading. If you are using a drawing tablet, you can simply use a darkening brush.

There are some very important places to shade to add the final touch of realism to your mouse drawing. Add some shading along the outer edge of the ears, on the top of the feet, behind the ears and along the back, and along the tail. Leave the bottom of the mouth, the inside of the ear, and the nose without shading.

You can make the fur appear even more realistic by using the sharp edge of your eraser to erase thin strokes of fur in the same direction as the fur lines.

Just like that, we have come to the end of our mice drawing tutorial. We really hope that you have enjoyed it, you are happy with your mouse, and you are inspired to keep drawing and creating!

    Detailing The Mouses Facial Features

In this step, we are going to add details to the ears, eyes, and nose. First, start by defining the eyes. Draw around the eye construction circle to create the pupil of the eye. Next, add an additional circle around this inner one, with a slight bulge at the front. For the whiskers, you can freehand draw several slightly curved lines on either side of the mouses face.

Tip: The whiskers on the nonvisible side of the face should be drawn facing up so that they are visible from the current angle of the mouse.

For the ears, you can freehand draw a curved line that follows the shape of the inner ear but ends just before it begins to dip down the back. Draw another two little curved lines at the very bottom of the big ear to add more depth. For the back ear, you can simply draw a little line that curves up the center.

Once you have finished with this step, you can erase all of your construction lines.

How To Draw A Mouses Ears

Next, we will put down the construction lines for the shapes of the mouses ears. Start by drawing an egg-like oval that is angled a bit towards the back of the bodys oval. It should be placed at about a third of the way into the main oval, with only the top corner jutting out of the main body.

Create another, smaller oval at a similar angle to the previous oval you just drew. It should be slightly behind the bigger one and most of it should stick out of the main body. These two ovals will form the ears of our mouse drawing.

    Cartoon Mouse Drawing Head

I have left for the end the theme of the characters head, since his features are very important to determine the drawing of a cartoon. The eyes are very important when giving expression to a drawing. In this case I opted for big eyes, which mix with each other. The eyebrows themselves are the upper limits of the head. In the mouse nose there is an exaggeration in terms of length, since the mouse drawing allows it, and the nose itself ends up marking a shy smile. The drawing is completed with the ears and mustaches. The bigger the ears are made, the funnier the character will be.

How to Draw little mouse – Easy Step by Step Tutorial

Now that we have the general shape of our mouse outlined, it is time to fine line the tail and feet. Begin at the gap in the fur you left at the back of your mouse. Outline the tail construction line, leaving equal space on either side. Make sure that your tail finishes at a sharp point.

Using the same practice of tracing around your construction lines, draw around the feet construction lines. Once you have your toes outlined, you can draw a sharp pointy nail on all of the toes. These nails should curve slightly downwards.

At the end of this step, your mouse should be starting to come together nicely and look something like this!
