Drawing cartoon plants: some fun facts before starting sketching!
- Bamboo is the world’s tallest grass. The height of the bamboo can reach 100 feet or more.
- 75% of those who are allergic to pollen also have other plants related allergies.
This lesson will help you learn to draw plants that don’t need nutrients or water to grow! All you need to sketch is a pot , a stem and some leaves .;
Plants come in various shapes so you can easily choose the one you like and start from there! The plant on your left is really easy to draw so it can be a good choice if you would like to practice more!
The bottom of the pot is made of a small circle. The body is made of a rectangle. The stem is made of a very thin rectangle or a line, it’s up to you. The leaves can be made with circles, triangles or even with an oval. It really depends of your point of view. They can be really large or really thin. No leaves will look the same.
In this example, we will draw a plant with not much leaves on it. First, sketch the top of the pot. Then, draw the other parts using two rectangles. Next, add the outline of the stem. Don’t hesitate to make it irregular. It should also be a little larger at the bottom. Finally, draw the leaves. That’s it! A very cool image of a plant!

Locate And Draw Plant Beds
Use the preliminary plan to start developing plant beds on the base map where plant material will be located, typically around buildings, on the edges of sidewalks and driveways, along fence and property boundaries, and around features in the landscape, such as pools and patios. Plant beds are traditionally curvilinear and follow the form of the building, driveway, or walkways. The meandering bedline typically undulates to create deep and shallow beds for a natural look . General rules for drawing bedlines for plant beds include the following:
Once the plant beds have been defined, they need to be filled with plants. There is a logical order to placing the plants, depending on the type of plant and the role it plays in the landscape. Large plants, such as trees, which separate spaces by creating implied walls, are called structural plants because they provide structure in the yard. They are also long lived and permanent through the seasons, so they add stability to the garden. These are the first plants to be located on the plan. Focal or anchor plants are located next. These are plants that are strategically located to create emphasis, attract attention, or provide an anchor in the various plant beds. The last plants to be placed are the massing plants, which fill in the plant beds and make up the majority of the plants in the beds. For more information about arranging plants, see Landscape Design: Arranging Plants in the Landscape .
Labels And Plant Schedule
Each symbol represents a different plant that must be identified by a count and the name of the plant. The count represents the number of plants that are in the cluster or mass . After all the plants have been identified and counted, the total number of each type of plant is determined by adding the count of the separate plant masses together. Leader lines are drawn from one of the plant symbols in the mass to a blank space on the plan where the count and name can be written. Draw the leader lines as short as possible and don’t cross lines to avoid confusion. Labels can be drawn in the footprint of the house or any open area on the plan and outside of the property boundaries of the plan. For clarity, it is best to keep all of the text at the same angle and group the labels so they are easier to find on the plan.
The final plant schedule is a list of all the plants on the plan with the total quantity for each plant. Each plant is listed by the common name and the scientific name. Common names can vary, and some plants have more than one common name, so the scientific name is required to ensure that the correct plant is purchased by the homeowner or installer. The size of the container for each plant and the spacing for installation is indicated. The spacing shows the distance from center to center of each plant at the time of installation. Table 2 shows a typical plant schedule for pricing and installation.

Artist Reveals How To Draw Perfect Flowers In 3 Simple Steps
Before photography, botanical illustration was used to document the form, color, and details of plant life, but today, many contemporary artists and illustrators still strive to showcase the beauty of flowers through their art. One of those artists is Kate Kyehyun Park, who paints beautiful blooms in watercolor.

Flowers add cheerfulness wherever they grow – or wherever they are drawn. This is especially so when they also wear smiling faces.
Dancing, smiling flowers have been a common part of many cartoons for decades. A famous example of this is the 1932 “Silly Symphonies: Flowers and Trees” cartoon produced by Walt Disney.
Today, such flowers often grace sunny window sills in the form of solar powered, plastic “dancing flowers.”
