Now Lets Grab Our Supplies
Pencil and pen I say pencil AND pen as I like to first sketch in the flower using a pencil such as a 2H which is quite hard and light and then ink over the pencil lines in a nice drawing pen or pen brush. I then erase the pencil lines leaving just the pen work. In this tutorial though, we will not be inking in the flower so this is an optional step.
KneadableEraser If you are using pencils these are highly recommended as we can use a kneadable eraser to accentuate highlights and lighting. I use an eraser to create the illusion of light and highlights quite often. While flowers are easy to draw you may also wish to erase some minor mistakes along the way.
Blending stump An optional item that you can use to blend pencil work. As you will see from my drawings that I use a lot of blending in my flower drawings but I use my thumb or finger which is free.
12 sheets of paper or a sketchbook, so we can draw a different type of flower drawn on each. You can draw your own versions if you want! Any brand will do but I have a few listed below. I also have a buyer guide that may help here.

Draw Flowers Step By Step
Drawing flowers is a great way to practice drawing and add beautiful, vibrant life to your artwork. The steps below will walk you through the process of drawing a simple flower that has been simplified for beginners. Once youve completed this tutorial, use it as a guide for practicing other types of flowers. Lets get started!
How To Draw A Calla Lilly
Step 1: Create a rough outline of the flower. It has a teardrop overall shape. Once again, do not forget to mark the middle and the bottom of the flower going down.
Step 2: From the middle mark downwards, start to create a spiral that is swirling and going all the way down. That way you are creating structured petals that are required for this step.
Step 3: Finalise the design, add in the stem, and leaves. Ensure that it is not symmetrical, but much rather has its twists and designs that ensure that your design looks realistic.
Drawing a Calla lily flower from the front is a little bit less complex. Overall, do not forget to mark the middle and follow closely as the petals are showing in the drawing.
Learning how to draw easy calla lily flowers can be even better when you add a little bit of color to your drawing.

How To Draw A Rose
Step 1: Create a rough outline of the flower. It should be in the shape of a bud. Make sure to place a middle there. We will use it as a base for other petals in the forthcoming steps to make flower drawing easy.
Step 2: Start by placing the front end petals of the flower right where they should be. Make sure to look closely and not to imagine things the way you wish they would be.
Step 3: In order to make a successful drawing of a rose, make the overlapping petals appear and add a bit of roughness to the edges to create the most realistic look possible.
Here a rose drawing has a lot more movement to it. The way petals wrap around the flower creates a look that is an astonishing and much cooler effect.
When drawing, ensure that you pay close attention and draw in those missing parts and it will make flower drawing easy.
When you are finished with the pencils drawing, you will be able to add watercolor so that your final piece looks incredible and you can finally feel like you know how to draw flowers well.
Draw In The First Two Petals
Now that you have the center of your flower drawing, its time to draw in the first petals! To do this, draw in two curvy lines that are thick at the bottom and meet at a thinner point at the end.
For this step, try to draw in two petals as shown in the reference image.
This can take a bit of practice, so maybe use a lighter pencil to draw in these petals and then go over them in pen or darker pencil once youre happy with them.

First Is A Poppy The Most Easy To Draw Flower
We will start with Poppy flowers as they are very simple and easy to draw. Just sketch a ball and thats it! Add three little circles on top and youre done. If only it was that easy.
Since this is for beginners, I didnt go too complicated with my poppy. As I am constantly told, less is more and that applies to poppy flowers.
Start with a simple shape as per step 1 below.
In step 2 we add a few larger shapes that will become the petals for the Poppy.
Now poppy petals feel and look like paper that is slightly crumpled. Think of that when adding some of the detail in step 3.
What I like to do in step 3 is add some light lines to show where this crumpling happens. I also like to add some shadows below the petals and then use my finger or thumb to smudge the shadow out so that it gets lighter as it gets closer to the lighter side.
At the centre disc of the flower surrounded by petals, just draw some tight squiggles and circles.
The stem is a simple shape, shade in one side a little darker and smudge out to where the light is. This gives the stem and flower a 3D look.
Add The Final Details
Your flower drawing is almost complete! For this step, we will be adding in some details to your flower drawing.
To start with, you can draw in the veins of the leaves using some thin lines. You can refer to the reference image to get an idea of how these veins should look!
You can then add in some lines in the petals extending from the center of the flower to make the petals look wavier.
Lastly, you can add in some small curved lines to the center of the flower to give it a more textured look. There are more small lines you can add as well for some extra little details.

Flower Drawing Tutorial: A Simple Anemone Flower
Im going to share with you today my simple step by step flower drawing tutorial. This tutorial will concentrate on how to draw an anemone flower.
All you need is paper, a pencil, some pens, and faith that you can do this! So go gather your supplies and lets proceed.
Starting with a pencil, draw 3 rough circles within each other. This will help determine the size and position of your flower.
The largest outer circle will be for your outer petals. The middle circle will be for your first layer of petals. Finally, the smallest central circle will be the centre of your flower.
I like to draw my flowers from the middle outwards. Starting with the smallest circle, which is your mound, add details by drawing either short strokes or stippling dots.
This shading will help give it some depth and dimension. Now draw small strokes all around the mound. Then add random little dots on top of the strokes for the stamen.
Using the second circle for reference, start drawing diamonds around the centre of the flower in pencil. This will be the first layer of petals around your flower.
You can be rough in drawing these diamonds because they are only for referencing and will be erased later.
With a pen, roughly go over the diamond shapes with a more rounded and curvy line. This will give the petals more dimension. Petals are delicate and have their own unique shapes.

We Will Now Draw Some Lilies Or Lily Flowers
I gave my daughter the middle name Lily as I thought she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen when she was born. And thats what I think of Lily flowers.
My wife loves Lilys but hates the red dust that seems to drop off after a few days and stain everything they land on.
To draw a Lily, draw a circle for the base of the flower as in step 1. Draw a small almost vertical tightly drawn circle with a circle at the base of that.
In step 2, sketch in what will become about 7 petals that are flopping down at the ends.
Sketch in the stamen and the tips of the stamen and add some rough shading for the petals.
In step 3, add some shading with pencils to darken the petals up as this will add more depth or dimensionality then finally use an eraser carefully so as not to disturb too much of what we have just drawn but enough to add some highlights and to also clean out any mistakes that crop up here and there.
Add some shading and light lines for the lily petals and smudge them with your finger or thumb. Add some shading to your stem and smudge this as well.
