65. And then we draw the rest of that top lip.

66. The interior lines of that top lip.

67. Our bottom lip line.

68. The interior bottom lip line.

69. While were down here, lets draw in some teeth. You only really see her two front teeth so lets just draw the bottom of those.

70. Im adding some quick curved lines for the chin. Not necessary but something I personally like to do regardless.

Eleven: Perfecting The Eyebrows With Ink

71. Here comes those eyebrows. What you should be doing is drawing some curved short lines starting from the bottom of your eyebrow lines to the top. Like so

They should eventually curve more in a horizontal direction the further you get to the outside of her face.

Oh wow, were done with that one already!

72. Repeat for the other eyebrow please. I stopped about halfway through this one as she has some hair covering it. No point in doing extra work, right?

Drawing Noses And Eyes Together

Once you learn the anatomy of the eye and how to draw it realistically, it is important to understand how to put two of them together along with other facial features like the nose. Here are some guidelines to remember:

  • The space between the eyes is one eye width.
  • Both eyes should be directly across from each other.
  • If you draw a vertical line down from the corner of the eye, it will line up with the edge of the nose.
  • Both eyes must be looking in the same direction. The pupil and iris must be the same in both.
  • Place the catch light in the same place on both eyes .

1. Create a Line Drawing

Use the grid method and a mechanical pencil to create a line drawing of a nose and eyes together. Notice how the vertical line drawn down from the corner of the eyes lines up with the edge of the nose. Place the eyes directly across from one another.

2. Apply Dark Tones, Fill in the Shadow Areas and Eyebrows

When you are sure of your accuracy, carefully remove the grid lines with a kneaded eraser. Apply the darkest tones with a pencil.

The pupils of the eyes are the darkest areas. Fill in the tones of the shadow areas and the eyebrows. The eyebrows should be shaded in as a shape first, before the hairs are applied.

3. Blend and Apply Highlights

Blend with a stump or tortillion. Very little of the paper should be left white, even in the whites of the eyes. Use a kneaded eraser for the small highlights seen in the brows and patterns within the pupils.

Third Step How To Draw A Girl Her Body

With her head positioned and in place, now lets draw the rest of her body torso, arms and all. Whats neat about this lesson and what separates it from others is that instead of drawing her standing straight and tall weve got to take her hips into account, as they are shifting to the side.

As you move through the steps, take note of the difference in lines opposite her center. Depending on which way her body is shifting the lines will either curve one way or the other to account for her changed position

And so many steps later youre all finished! Still, if you look up at the finished example keep in mind that there are lots of different ways that you can make your drawing more unique. With simple well-placed lines, you can change the v-neck to a crew, change the length and style of her top/dress, have her pants/jeans going over her boots, etc.

One more thing and youre all done!

    Fifteen: Drawing The Hair

    81. There are different ways to draw hair. The way I like to do it is drawing each individual strand. Tedious and time-intensive, I know, but it gets some good results in the end. Heres one strand.

    82. Im going to lay out some other individual strands to help you understand how Im doing it.

    Ok. Now away-y-y we go!

    83. Aaaand its all done! Just waiting for that Carpal Tunnel to kick in!

    Five: Establish The Shape

How to Draw a Realistic Face, Girl with Pencil Step by Step 2/3

    17. Draw an oval for her face. Remember that the top and bottom of that oval should hit where our top of skull and chin/jaw lines are.

    28. Lets draw two slightly curved lines for our neck.

    29. Next is that shoulder, which is nothing more than the top part of an oval.

    30. Now for the other shoulder.

    31. Lets draw the hair now. We should start out rough as drawing hair is a pretty complex process. Well begin by drawing the exterior shape her hair takes. It kind of resembles a heart.

    32. Now we can draw in that ear, or the bottom of it at least. The bottoms of your ears land close to the bottom of the nose or top of the lip. In her case, its the top of her lip.

    Drawing The Mouth & Lips

Anime mouths are usually drawn without lips but you can add them if you want a more realistic looking mouth.

Position the mouth with the bottom lip halfway between the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the chin.

Draw the mouth itself as a curve with a break in the middle where the lines curve slightly downwards. You can also draw it wider than more traditional anime mouths.

For a very detailed explanation of drawing the lips you can see the tutorial below:

Mark Guidelines And Start Drawing The Eyes

Across the middle horizontal line, draw five light rectangles. Inside the second and fourth rectangles, draw an oval that overlaps the middle line. Within each oval, draw a big circle and a small circle for the eyeballs, and a slightly curved line over each for the top of the eye. At the top of the guideline rectangles, draw in the eyebrows as curved rectangle shapes. Along the bottom of the guiding rectangles, sketch in curved lines to outline the nose with the tip of the nose resting on the bottom of the guideline.

Guidelines in the middle of the face help you to map out the eyes, nose, and mouth.

When youre learning how to draw a face, getting the eyes right is one of the most crucial elements in making your drawing more realistic. Start by going over the circle of the eyeballs in a darker pencil to frame them before adding lighter shading on the inside. Once youve shaded the whole eyeball, erase a couple of small spots around the pupil to give the eyes a slightly glassy look. Add in light shading to the corners of the eyes to start building out a more three-dimensional appearance.

Shading the eyes first will help you to see where you need darker and lighter elements.Shading around the eyes can be time-consuming, but enjoy the process of seeing your art come to life!Short pencil strokes will help you create realistic eyebrows.

    Six: Begin Drawing Facial Features

    33. Next comes the eyes. Well start by drawing an oval in that area. Nothing too fancy yet!

    34. Do the other eye.

    35. Now, lets draw a curved line for the bottom of her top eyelid.

    36. Now for our iris, which is nothing more than a small circle. However, lets remember that it is partly covered by her eyelid so were only drawing a portion of it.

    37. Get that other iris in there.

    38. As a placeholder, lets draw some curved lines that take on the shape of her eyebrows. Shes got some good healthy brows.

    39. And the other brow.

    40. On to the nose! Lets draw a circle that rests on our center line, the bottom of which touches our bottom of the nose line. Hm, Im getting major clown vibes now. Lets keep moving.

    41. Were going to draw another smaller circle on the side of that big nose circle. This will become one of our nostrils.

    42. Now for the other side of the nose.

    43. Lets draw in our nostril holes which should be two small ovals that intersect the big nose circle.

    44. Now we can draw our lip shape. Its basically an oval with pointed sides. Or perhaps you can think of it as two arcs joined together. Whatever floats your boat!

    45. Next, Im drawing an x where our Cupids bow will land. A cupids bow is the double curved shape that our top lips take at the very center. It is said to resemble the bow of Cupid. Fun fact, huh?!

    46. Next were drawing the inside of her lips, and because her lips are slightly parted, well add an oval as our lip opening.

Finishing The Drawing By Applying Shading

To finish the drawing you can add some very basic shading.

For very generalized shading with no one clear light source shade the areas most likely to have shadows. These shadows will usually be:

    • Cast by the hair on the forehead area
    • Around the eyelids
    • Upper area of the neck
    • Inner/Background area of the hair

For shading an anime characters face in different lighting conditions see:

Be sure to leave the area of the highlights in the hair white as well as a small highlight area on the lips.

For examples of various kinds of hair highlight see:

    Finishing Your Side Profile

Above the eye, add a curved eyebrow and begin adding in the details for the ear. With your pencil, go back over some of the features that youve already added so that theyre darker and more prominent. From here, youll be adding the final touchthe hair.

Draw swooping lines over the top of the face circle and along the left side. For a ponytail, add a half-oval or knot shape with wispy lines coming from this as individual hair strands.

Adding in simple pencil strokes for the hair is the final step in finishing your drawing!

Once youve added the final touches to the hair, your profile drawing is complete!
