Time To Draw The Back Legs

Learn How to Draw a Sheep – Easy Step by step drawing tutorial

In step seven, we are going to create the outline for the two back legs of your lamb drawing. Begin with the very back foot, taking a line down from the very back and bottom point of the rear end. You can create a similar hoof shape at the bottom, with a slightly more pointy heel and a split in the front. For the second back leg, start on the inside and bottom of the rear end, and draw the final hoof angled slightly towards the front of the sheeps body.

To nail a realistic perspective in your sheep drawing, both of the back legs should start on the line of the rear end, as they are poking out from beneath the wool coat. The very back leg should also be angled slightly towards the back of your canvas, and both hooves should point towards the front.

You Can Refer To The Simple Step

Step 1

Start your bighorn sheep by drawing its head. Leave the top and sides open as you will add the details there later.

Step 2

Draw the eyes, nose, ears and details of the face. If you need help with your nose, draw a small circle above the mouth, then draw a diagonal line behind the nose and mouth.

Step 3

Now draw the horns. Only rams, called rams, have large horns like this curled around. Females, called ewes, have shorter and straighter horns. Males use these horns to fight other sheep.

Step 4

Next, draw the neck. This is a straight diagonal line going down from the bottom of the head.

Step 5

Now draw the front leg first. The legs of the bighorn sheep look thin compared to the rest of the body.

Step 6

Draw the remaining front leg. Since this pin is behind the first leg, only one line should be drawn to show that the pin is covered.

Step 7

Next is the rest of the body. Draw a horizontal line for the belly and a long line at the top that curves down at the end for the back.

Step 8

Draw one of the following pins. It is slightly wider than the forefoot.

Step 9

But it is necessary to start drawing not from horns but from a generalized sketch.

And then we draw according to the classical scheme.

Step 1 draw the body. Note that the body of animals is usually not oval as it seems. In sheep, for example, the shape of the body practically approaches the rectangle with cut corners.

Step 2 draw the hind legs:

Step 3 -draw the front legs:

Pay attention on the whole body of the sheep there is a long thick fur, but on the legs the hair is short and smooth.

Step 4 draw the head. The ram has an elongated muzzle with eyes wide apart, a lop-eared and with a slightly silly expression. On the sides of the head there are two twisted horns.

We performed the linear drawing of the ram. Now we need to paint.I advise you to color it graphically, with the help of shading, this will help to show the texture of wool.

How To Draw A Sheep: Base Sketch Step By Step

Step 1: Draw the sheep’s body and head base shapes

Our sheep drawing starts as usual with just simple shapes: Draw a large oval, almost a circle, for the sheep’s body. Then draw another small oval for the sheep’s head – this one is narrow and tilted out, placed at about the middle of the body and overlapping the body edge.

Step 2: Draw the sheep’s face

Let’s give our sheep some face and head features. Start by drawing two circles for the eyes – these sit right on the top of the head oval. Add two small dots inside them for the pupils in the eyes.

Then draw the sheep’s “hair” – this is a funny cauliflower hairdo made of three round lumps. Then sketch the ears – again, just simple ovals tilted down, one on each side of the head, attached at the top just between the eyes and the hair.

Finally, add two more tiny flat ovals tilted sideways at the lower part of the face for the nostrils.

Step 3: Draw the sheep’s legs and tail

Next, draw sheep’s legs. Staying with the very simple cartoon style, these are just straight lines, doubled up for each leg.; Continuing with the cartoon exaggeration, we make our sheep look funny by drawing really thin and short legs compared to the sheep’s massive body.

Then add hooves to each leg – these are “D” shapes laid on the flat side with a tiny line for the split between the two “fingers”.

Last but not least, our sheep needs a tail – draw it again as a simple narrow oval hanging down from the centre of the body oval.

Step 4: Draw the sheep’s mouth

Well, even colouring the sheep is easy – the wool is white, so there is not much to colour in. All we are doing is adding some light blue shading – the same trick we have used to add some interest to other white drawings – like the diamond, snowflake, ghost or snowman.

For the face and hooves, we have used a beige colour. The clover is, of course, a nice green. Add some grass for the sheep to stand on and you are done.

Creating The Final Outline Of Your Sheep Drawing

Up to this point, most of our drawing has been purely construction. In this step, it is time to tie together all of our construction lines to create the final outline of your lamb drawing. Begin by outlining the shape of the sheeps head.

If you take a look at our example below, you will see that the sheeps head is not an oval like the construction shape. Bring the sides of the face slightly inwards, and then create a slightly squared-off nose.

For the left ear, carry the head outline around the ear without separation. To maintain the perspective, you need to use a line to separate the right ear from the space within the head. To finish the head outline, you can add facial features including eyes close to the ears, nostrils, and a small wiggly line for the mouth.

Use wavey and scribbly lines to outline the rest of the sheeps body to give the illusion of a wooly coat. You can follow your construction shapes very closely, just adding a few raggedy bits of wool around the bottom of the body. Lastly, add an additional line just above the bottom of the hooves to create more realistic detail.

When you are happy with your outline, you can erase all remaining construction lines.

Adding The First Coat Of Coloring

ð¨How to DRAW a LAMB -A Step by Step TUTORIAL using JUST a PENCIL!

In order to create realistic coloring for any animal drawing, it is always best to build the color up in a few layers. Although sheep are white, we need to start with a neutral base color to create depth and dimension. Use a light tan shade of beige, and fill the entirety of the main body with this shade.

The head and feet are going to be black, so you can leave these areas blank for now.

    Outlining The Sheeps Chest

If you look at the final result of this tutorial, you will see that the sheeps head does not simply extend from the front of its body. Sheep have a fairly long neck and a large chest, which we need to lay down with construction lines in this step. You are going to use another oval, but this time it should be slightly smaller and more elongated. Draw the angled oval shape overlapping with the very front tip of the main body oval.

You want this oval to lean towards the right side of your canvas, and the top of it should sit a little higher than the highest point of the main body oval.
