In this example, the tiger is walking through a snowy forest, so I’ve added a sloping horizontal line and a variety of trees in the back. “The wonderful thing about Tiggers Is Tiggers are wonderful things. Their tops are made out of rubber, Their bottoms are made out of springs! They’re bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun! But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is, I’m the only one!” – “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers,” The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Tigger is a fan favorite from the Hundred Acre Wood. This hyperactive stuffed tiger made his debut in the children’s book The House at Pooh Corner in 1928. Like his counterparts – including Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and Kanga – he was based on a stuffed animal owned by author A. A. Milne’s son, Christopher Robin. He is enthusiastic and loves to bounce on his tail – because, as he says, “Bouncing is what Tiggers do best.”

Tigger has been featured in books, movies, television series, and merchandise. He even starred in his own feature film, The Tigger Movie. He has also appeared in other media and television series as an item of popular culture.

How To Draw A Tiger: Base Sketch Step By Step

Step 1: Sketch some circles for the head and face

We will start our tiger drawing very similar to our circle cat from the How to draw a cat tutorial.

First draw a large circle for the head.

Next add a tiny circle for the nose, with two slightly larger circles for the cheeks.

Step 2: Sketch the tigers body and front legs

Since tigers are sleek, rather than round, we cannot continue with the circles for the body.

Rather we sketch the body as two simple, slightly curved lines combined with the round head, the body makes a bowling pin shape.

Next draw similarly curved lines inside the body for the front legs.

Step 3: Draw the tigers paws and rear legs

Next we add paws and rear legs.

Start with a straight line for the floor that will help us keep all the paws in line.

Add two half circle paws at the end of front legs.

Next add two more rear paws, each again a half circle, but slightly hidden behind the front paws.

Finally, sketch the rear legs with two curved lines to suggest a sitting tiger.

Step 4: Sketch the eyes and nose

Now that we have the tigers body sketched, we will improve on the face.

First, lets add the eyes. Here we have drawn two exaggerated narrow tiger eyes.

Next we improve on the tigers nose. Draw two ovals in a upside down V or heart shape from our nose dot.

Step 5: Add ears and small mane

Complete the sketch of the tigers head with ears and a mane.

Draw the pointy, slightly curved ears. Add an extra line on the inside to suggest the ear cup.

Give The Tiger More Definition

At this point, we’ve drawn all of the elements, so it’s time to give our tiger more definition. Starting from the top, find the shoulder blade of the tiger, and raise it up a bit to show that it is in movement. Add a long curling tail behind the rear legs and sketch the individual toes in the tiger’s paws.

Now, we’ll turn our attention to the head, and add a pair of triangle-shaped ears to the top of the circle and a smaller circle to the bottom. If you want, you can also lightly sketch some guidelines at this point to indicate where the facial features will go, but it’s not necessary yet.

Add In A Face For Your Tiger

Now that you have the head outline of your tiger drawing, you can start to draw in the face of the tiger. This is another tricky step, so it will help to draw in each element of the face one at a time.

You can use some curved lines with circles inside them to make some thin, fierce-looking eyes for the tiger.

Then you can use a rounded shape for the nose, and then give it a wide-open mouth. Once the mouth is drawn, your tiger definitely needs some sharp teeth inside of it.

I would again suggest using some pencil for this step before you go over it with a pen to finish it off.

If you follow the picture closely and take your time with it, I know youll do a great job of it!
