The bow and arrow is an ancient weapon. The oldest arrowheads to be discovered are many thousands of years old. Until the Middle Ages, the bow and arrow were the most prominent weapons of hunting and warfare throughout the world.

It is not surprising that the arrow has long held a cultural significance as well. They are mentioned often in ancient writings. For example, in Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus skill with the bow and arrow are crucial to his victory. In the Bible book of Psalms, children are compared to arrows that must be aimed at a target. Art from ancient Assyria, China, and elsewhere depict soldiers armed with arrows.

Today, the bow and arrow are most often seen to represent the Native American cultures, as well as characters such as Robin Hood, the comic book hero Green Arrow, and the dystopian heroine Katniss Everdeen.

Arrows may also symbolize decision making or paths in life. Arrows are common artistic elements in home decor, clothing, jewelry, and accessories, especially that classed as “bohemian.”

Would you like to draw an arrow? This easy, step-by-step drawing tutorial is designed to help you do just that. All you will need is a pencil, pen, or marker and a sheet of paper. You may also wish to use crayons or something else to shade your finished drawing.

Autocad : : How To Draw A Line With Fixed Ends

Is it possible to draw a line with fixed ends. I want to draw a line, representing a pipe, which connects two tanks. Whenever I move one of the tanks I’d like the line automatically to adjust its coresponding end in such a way that the line aways will start from the one tank and end on the other. Is it possible that?Another question, is there some option, such that whenever two line cross each other, one of the line automatically to go over the other. By this I want to show on the drawing that the two lines are not connected. Something like the following “sketch”

How To Make Custom Arrow Style In Autocad Dimensions

AutoCAD offers lots of Arrow style for dimensions and leader lines but there might be situations when you simply need your own custom arrow style.

This feature can be used to create symbols for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing features like flatness, cylindricity, runout etc. Symbols for these features are not available in standard arrow symbol library of AutoCAD and these custom symbols can be very efficiently used with the leader line.

How to draw an arrow in AutoCAD

I just started at this drafting job and inherited most of the graphics from others. Version: AutoCAD LT 2010. Some of the leaders on my drawing somehow changed so that the arrowheads do not show. When I began working on the drawing, the arrowheads were fine, but while I have been working on the drawing, all of a sudden these leaders changed this property. The properties manager lists these problem leaders as “line with no arrow.” Although there is a drop-down menu to choose things like “line with arrow,” the “no arrow” option does not change when I pick anything else.

How To Draw Inclined Line In Autocad

Lets understand this method with a few examples:

    Example #1

Drawing an inclined line in AutoCAD is not hard work. You can easily draw it by giving the inclination angle. For drawing an inclined line, take a line command from the draw tool.

Step 1: Give the first point.

    Step 2: Give direction.

Step 3: Make sure Ortho is in Ortho off mode for putting it off, press the F8 key.

    Step 4: Give length.

Step 5: Press the tab and give the inclination angle, and press Enter key.

Step 6: Again, press Enter or Esc to leave the command.

    Example #2

Lets draw it with me as I will do. I will take a line command.

Step 1: Give the first point in my workspace.

Step 2: I will make sure that my Ortho is in Ortho off mode.

Step 3: Give a length of 60 mm.

Step 4: Press tab to give the angle of inclination and type 30 as angle, then press Enter to apply the command, and again press Enter to exit.

If you want to continue the line in other direction and inclination, then dont exit from line command just again give the length of line and inclination angle by following the same steps as we did previously.

Step 5: I will show you how to continue your line. I will again give a length of 40 mm.

Step 6: Give inclination angle 150, then press Enter to apply this command.

You can continue your line as many as the time you want.

Adding A Note With An Arrow

Finally, there is the Dimension Leader option, which enables you to add a note with an arrow pointing to the object the note describes:

  • Click the Quick Leader tool on the Dimension toolbar, enter Le , or choose Dimension Leader from the pull-down menu.

  • At the Specify first leader point, or < Settings> : prompt, pick a point near the top-left edge of the hexagon at coordinate 16,24 .

  • At the Specify next point: prompt, enter . Metric users should enter .

  • At the Specify next point: prompt, you can continue to pick points just as you would draw lines. For this exercise, however, press to finish drawing leader lines.

You can also add multiline text at the leader. See the next section, ” Exploring the Leader Options.”

  • At the Specify text width < 0 ²> : prompt, press .

  • At the Enter first line of annotation text < Mtext> : prompt, type Window Frame as the label for this leader.

  • At the Enter next line of annotation text: prompt, press to finish the leader. Your drawing will look like Figure 9.20.

Autocad Civil 3d : : Feature Line Flow Arrow Direction Expression

Now, in my understanding, the flow arrow should either be rotated 0, or 180 . But clearly, some of them like to have their own mind about things, and decide on some other rotation. It seems that on the steep slopes, the arrows go a bit skew.I think the skew is related to the actual elevation difference of the segment, rather than the steepness of the slope. A long segment with 15% slope has a worse skew than a short segment at over 30%, presumably because the elevation difference from the start to the end of the segment is larger.

    Making The Arrow Geometry

    AutoCAD Line with Arrowhead

AutoCAD recognizes blocks for creating arrow styles so you can create blocks and use them as arrows but make sure your blocks are not annotative because AutoCAD does not recognize annotative blocks for making arrow styles.

Make an arrow style as per your requirement, I am making an arrow as shown in the image below.

Make this drawing using simple draw commands of AutoCAD in 1:1 drawing scale then use scale command to resize this object as per your drawings final scale.

You cant make this arrow style annotative hence you need to select its size beforehand. After making adjustments use block command to convert this geometry into a block. For our example, I have named this arrow block as Custom Arrow.

Autocad North Arrow | How To Draw Simple North Arrows in Autocad Tutorial

Just converted from 14LT to 2014LT. In 14LT, when drawing a shape, say 4′ by 5′, I used to be able to draw the first two lines, 4′ and 5′ and then simply push the up arrow to retrieve the last two entries at the command line. When I do that now, it gives me some sort of dimensional coordinates. Also, same subject, different useage, when drawing from points to points, I used to be able to draw a line from a point to a snap point such as intersection and then simply push the up arrow to retrieve that command to the command line over and over depending on a snap by snap basis. Again, it just gives me the dimensional coordinates.

How To Draw Arrows In Autocad

AutoCAD can be a confusing program, even for architects and engineers who use it on a daily basis. Mastering a few basics will help shorten the learning curve. Knowing how to draw arrows in AutoCAD is a good first step. In AutoCAD terminology, arrows are called “leaders.” Before you begin drawing leaders, you should define the parameters governing how your arrows will look. Then, with a few mouse clicks, you can call out notes to your drawings.

Launch AutoCAD and load the Dimension Style Manager. In newer versions of AutoCAD, load the Multileader Style Manager. You can choose whether your arrows will consist of straight lines or curved . You can also determine what the head of the arrow will look like, how large it is and whether it is an actual arrow, a dot or a tick mark. Additionally, you can set the line weights and types.

Design the appearance of the arrow you want to draw in AutoCAD. If you prefer to type in commands or use shortcuts, type “leader” into the command prompt. Alternately, you can select “leader” from the dimension menu, or just click the “Leader” button on the dimensioning toolbar. Then, click on the start point what you want the arrow to point at.

Enter the first line of annotation text when prompted. Simply press “Enter” to complete the command with no text.

Creating an arrow in AutoCAD may feel clumsy the first time around, but with practice, you’ll get the hang of it.
