So How To Draw Charizard
Follow this simple seven-step process to learn how to draw Charizard.
Step 1 Drawing the Torso
We will start by drawing the torso of our Pokémon. The part will be drawn by placing two rectangular shapes on top of the other. Draw a vertical line from the top of the torso to the bottom to divide the torso into two. We will be drawing our Pokémon from a 3/4 angle so the right side of the torso which is closer to the viewer should be bigger than the farther left side.
Draw the hips as a triangular shape at the bottom of the torso, this will also represent the lower abdominal area of the Pokémon. Lastly, draw ellipses on top of the torso and by the side to indicate where the head and right arm will be placed.
Step 2 Drawing the legs
We will draw the hind limbs of the Pokémon in two parts the upper and lower parts. For the upper part which is equivalent to the thighs, draw the legs as egg-shaped spheres attached to the lower end of the torso. Again, because of the view, the right leg will be slightly bigger than the left leg. For the lower part, the two paws will be drawn from two different perspectives. While the right paw is fully frontal, the left paw will be drawn from a 3/4 perspective. Draw the paws using simple geometric shapes and use three triangles on each paw to represent the claws.

How To Draw Charizard
Learn how to draw Charizard from Pokemon with this step-by-step tutorial and video. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, dont press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a small circle near the top of the page as a guide for Charizard’s head. The circle doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide. Draw a curved horizontal line that splits the circle in half. This is a construction line that will help you place Charizard’s facial features later on.
Step 2: Now draw two curved lines as guides for Charizard’s top and bottom jaw. The top curved line starts on one end of the horizontal construction line, comes outside of the circle and ends on the other end of the construction line. The bottom curved line should be shorter and be placed under the circle.
Step 3: Next, draw a triangle-like shape sitting on top of the horizontal construction line near the middle of the circle. This will be a guide for Charizard’s eye. The other eye will be on the other side of the head and will not be visible from this perspective. On top of the head, draw two small lines as guides for this Pokemon’s horns.
Step 5: Draw two long lines that connect Charizard’s head and the body to form the top part of the body and the neck. Notice how the two lines are closer together at the top than at the bottom.
What You Will Need
If you draw digitally, you need two layers and an ink-like tool. If you draw traditionally, you need a pencil for the guide lines, and something darker for the final lines . Remember to sketch the guide lines lightly, without pressing hard on the paper! Also, if you want to lower the level of difficulty, keep your drawings smallthis way it will be easier for you to achieve the correct proportions.
