Youve been doing a great job on this Nightmare Before Christmas drawing so far, so now its time to add the man himself: Jack Skellington!

As his name implies, Jack is a skeleton, but he will still be drawn with the same style we spoke about earlier.

That means giving him some big eye sockets, and you can draw his mouth as a long line with smaller lines going horizontally through it.

Then, draw his rounded head shape before extending his neck down. He will then have an extravagant collar that fans out from a central broach at his neck, and you can finish off the rest of the suit he is wearing.

Finally, you can draw the other half of the circle behind them on his side, and be sure to extend the same twisty lines that you did before.

How To Draw Jack Skellington

Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

Intro: Start drawing Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: To draw Jack Skellington, start with a circle on the top half of the page. Underneath that circle, draw two lines that angle slightly to the right. These will make the basic shape for Jack Skellington’s head and neck.

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical line and one horizontal. When drawing the lines, bend them so that they follow the shape of a sphere. These will be construction lines that will help you place Jack Skellington’s features later on.

Step 3: Now give the Pumpkin King two big ovals that sit on top of the horizontal construction line on either side of the vertical construction line for his eyes. Draw the one on the left slightly bigger than the right because of the perspective. Draw in his mouth as a line that follows the shape of Jack Skellington’s head and sits below the horizontal construction line.

Step 4: For Jack Skellington’s bowtie, draw a triangle that points down below his neck. On top of this triangle draw two smaller triangles that point up.

Jack Skellington Of The Nightmare Before Christmas Drawing Guide

Jack Skellington is a character and the main protagonist of the 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack is the “Pumpkin King” of Halloween Town, a fantasy world based solely on the Halloween holiday.

I was always afraid of The Nightmare Before Christmas and honestly couldn’t watch it until i was fifteen years old. But then when I felt brave enough to face the Boogie-man and the three creepy demonic children, I loved the story, and most of all Jack Skellington!

Tin Burton is an underrated genius and I am in awe of his work, his imagination, and his overall style.

Add Details To Jack’s Face

Drawing: How to Draw Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King (Nightmare Before Christmas)

Next, let’s draw Jack’s nose. His nose is more like nostrils. Let’s draw two watermelon seeds for his nostrils and fill them in black. PRO TIP: Jack Skellington is symmetrical, which means anything we do on the left side of his face, we also do to the right side. Everything is the same!

Now, let’s draw Jack’s mouth. This is one of his most distinct features! Draw a slightly wiggled “U” shape that follows the bottom of the face for his mouth. You can do a simple stitch by drawing lines across his smile, or you can do the advanced technique Kim shows in the video that are curved, like stitches on a baseball.

Now let’s draw Jack’s neck. It looks a little bit like a golf tee, or like a funnel! At the base of the head it starts wide and gets narrower as we go down. At the bottom of the neck, we’re going to draw an oval that is sideways. This is going to be the knot in the middle of his bowtie – which is actually a BAT!

Nightmare Before Christmas Jars

These ornate Nightmare Before Christmas jars used by Sally in the film usually contain poison.

But in this case, something more mild might be more appropriate.

Make these awesome jar crafts and fill them with whatever seems most fitting: Halloween candy, candles, green horrible slime its up to you.

Making a sufficiently spooky impression on any home, these jars would look great sitting on a countertop at a Halloween party.

Next Draw Her Hair And Body

In this part of your Nightmare Before Christmas drawing, we will be drawing the rest of Sallys hair and body.

Her hair flows down quite straight from her head, and we will be adding lots of line detail to it to give it the appearance of real hair.

Then, using the reference image, you can then create the rest of her arms and body along with the dress that she is wearing. Then its on to step 3, so lets move on!
