Adding Santas Clothes And Coloring
Step 1 Go back over and describe Santas body.
- Draw over the external edges of your initial circles and ovals. You wish to fill out Santas body now, making him look more three-dimensional.
- Just draw the outer edges of your shapes.
- Eliminate any intersecting parts to provide your drawing weight.
- When finished, you will have a three-dimensional looking Santa that has a hat, but still no clothes.
Step 2 Sketch in Santas clothes.
- Start with Santas waistcoat. Draw the bottoms of the coat by drawing a curved line on the external side of each of Santas legs. The lines need to curve away from his legs until each line reaches the knee. Then draw 2 curved lines back up and connect these lines by the stomach button location. The bottoms of the waistcoat get a white fringe similar to his hat.
- Include the belt. The belt is a thick rectangle that curves slightly around Santas stomach. The bottom of the belt is where the 2 flaps of the waistcoat fulfill around the tummy button.
- Add a square buckle in the center and two belt loops, one on either side.
- Include a circular button or 2 in the center of the waistcoat.
- Below Santas waistcoat are his trousers which can be drawn with a few vertical zig-zag lines. He also has huge boots which increase to his shins.
- Lastly, draw 2 rectangle-shaped cuffs on his sleeves where his wrists are and make certain his hands are detailed.
- Santas hat, coat, pants, and boots are all red. His boots are slightly darker than the other red garments.

How To Draw Santa: Base Sketch Step By Step
Step 1: Sketch the base shape
OK, here we go. Remember that bowling pin from our easy Santa? Here it is again!
Draw an oval for the face. Then add the bowl pin body two curved sides widening out and a curved baseline to close the shape.
Step 2: Add moustache and beard
This step is again similar to our easy Santa drawing. Draw a C shaped curve for the nose. We want a nice round nose.
For the moustache, we just sketch two simple ovals. We will be improving on those when we draw the outline. Similarly for the beard draw a heart shape sketch and we will draw it out in more detail in our outline.
Step 3: Sketch the face
Now add Santas face. We will draw nice round eyes, with simple round pupils. Then add two thick moon-shaped eyebrows again slightly tilted, to give our Santa a happy expression. Finally, add a simple short curved mouth.
Step 4: Draw Santas hat
Let’s draw Santas hat. Start with the bottom rim draw the curved sides and join them on top. Then add the pompom where you want it to be a simple oval.
For the top of the hat, the left side has a nice swoop from the rim of the head all the way to the pompom. The right side just a short line up to suggest the fold in the hat. Then add the last line in to close the tip of the hat.
Step 5: Draw Santas legs and boots

Step 6: Sketch the arms

Start by drawing the outline of his thick eyebrows. Then, right underneath the eyebrows, draw two small oval shapes for the eyes. Shade the eyes while leaving a tiny dot unshaded. Dont forget to draw a sideways oval shape on each cheek to create a blushing effect.
Here, you can see the Santa Claus drawing is nearly finished! The only thing its missing is a dash of multiple colors to complete your artwork!
Finally, here is the most exciting partfilling in the colors for your awesome drawing! This is the part where you can show off your artistic skills and your ability to mix and match various colors.
Santa Claus hair, moustache, and beard are all as white as snow. It is believed that the color of his hair is not a result of his old age, but it actually lacks pigmentation, thus it is translucent. He also typically wears a red-colored Christmas outfit adorned with white fur.
Feel free to color your Santa Claus drawing using any colors you like and watch as your drawing ultimately comes to life! And while youre at it, why not try experimenting with different coloring materials such as watercolor and brush pens as well?
How To Draw Santa’s Face
Step 1 Begin with the nose. Utilize the middle horizontal line as a guide point to start. The bottom of the nose must be at the exact same level as your middle horizontal line.
Draw around circle-like shape for the nose. You do not want the circle to connect at the top, so leave it open.
Then include the nostrils. On either side of the circular nose, draw a C shape. One forward C for Santas right nostril, and one in reverse C for his left nostril.
Step 2 Draw the mustache.
To help you keep the mustache even, put a little dot under the nose in the center. Then when you draw the bottom of mustache, draw your zig-zags so the lines satisfy at the dot.
Then add 2 round lines beginning at the top of the nose on each side. Bring these lines down to meet near the edge of the mustache. These are Santas cheeks.
Step 3 Draw Santas eyes. Draw two large upside-down U shapes on top of the cheeks to form the eyes.
- If you d rather have your Santa look a little less cartoony, you can draw 2 smaller sized circles above the cheeks for the eyes. These eyes will not be linked to Santas cheeks and will provide him a little bit of a more sensible look.
- Add the pupils to the eyes. Inside the eyes, draw 2 circles. One larger for the white part of the eye, and one smaller one for the students.
- If you have room and wish to, you can include smaller circles inside the students to make Santas eyes look glossy. Color in the students.
Step 4 Give Santa some eyebrows.

Draw A Santa Claus Face
To get started drawing the face, well first draw a nose. Why a nose and not the head? Because the nose is in the middle of the face and were going to draw the face around the nose.
Make a sideways C shape for the nose. The curved part of the C should be at the bottom and the open part of the C should be at the top.
Lets give him some eyes. Draw two circles. Inside each circle, well draw a semi-circle for the pupils.
Just above his eyes, draw eyebrows. Well use the number 3 as a base to make the eyebrows. Draw a sideways 3. Pretend that there is a rectangle here and continue making the 3 forms all around the rectangle. Do this over each eye.
Now that weve drawn Santas face, lets give him a beard. Well draw in the mouth later.
